Unfortunately, the T9 only supports fixed bitrates (video @ 400kbps / audio @ 128kbps), plus the file hast to be converted with SMS, so you can give up searching for a "right mix".

you would FIRST have to convert to a format such as divx/xvid/etc. Once complete, use SMS to transfer/convert the file to the T9. A long process, but definately possible...i've done it a few times.

that's exactly what i did, and your right. they are buggers to convert :P cppertop, what file sizes did you end up with, i got about 500 meg for a 90 minute movie. I was messing up before because my dvd decryptor was screwy, but it's all good now.

well...considering that the file gets compressed so much once on the T9, i used a low resolution when converting to divx (320x320)...then transfered to the T9. The final file size on the T9 is less than 300MB.

Default dvd ripping

doom9.org is a very great place to learn how to rip dvds. go to http://www.doom9.org/divx-encoding.htm
I converted my dvd to xVid using "auto gordion knot", a program they teach you how to use. then once its in xVid (an avi file), just use sms to put it into the t9. You can set the output quality as well using this procedure. Also, I didn't need to do this, but you might also want to use "virtualdub" if you need to put movie files together or split them up.

I already did - "Borat" took up a scant 350 mb after conversion. However, I'm having issues with audio/video sync that I have not had the time to sort out. Maybe I'll post a thread later and we can figure it out.

My file ended up being 232mb. No problems whatsoever with video/audio sync. I'm going to keep playing with the kbps though because I want to see how clear and sharp I can get the video to look in the T9. For such a small screen, it is crazy crisp and sharp looking! If you like, I'll send you the file so you can take a look at it. We should start a new thread where we post our results from various programs on how to do this proccedure to help out the community.
