---thread title changed, please use descriptive titles in the future---

You may as well get the Clip, either the Zip or the +. There's not much else on the market that fits your needs. There are a few other players that fit the description but they are off brand and the quality of the hardware or firmware is questionable at best.

BTW, the original Clip doesn't have a slot for a memory card. That's why I left it out of the title change.

Sony has great sound and is in your price range but it has no sd slot

But you can't go wrong with a Clip Zip

A clip+ or clipzip is it. And a Cowan with a micro sd card slot is more than $100.

+1 TDS

2kitties title = "i looked but i can't find an alternative to the clip + or the clip zip." My question is why would you want an alternative? The clip is affordable, sounds very good, can run rockbox, light weight and sports a clip ... Although when such a alternative player is available I'm sure one of the many abi members will spot it first

I want something like the Clip+ but with 50+(ideally, but even 30+ would be nice) hours of battery life. I would also like high quality recording and a mic jack.

So instead of always attempting to hijack someone else's thread why not start your OWN thread and ask for help/opinions. Hmmm? :-/

@ 2kitties....
The DarkSide is simply frustrated, as are some of the other members, that JK98 tends to endlessly repeat his wishlist for a device, in multiple threads, on multiple websites, and quite often it ends up distracting readers from the intent of the threads.

Don't misunderstand though, he's not being mean to JK98, (who really is a nice guy, just like The DarkSide is).

Besides having an only "decent" set of eq presets there's actually nothing wrong with an iPod. The frequency response, crosstalk, etc, are excellent. Also, the newer models no longer use a Wolfson chip - so they no longer suffer from bass roll off. Sounds like they're pretty good to me,..I'm using mine tonight.

Is there anything specific that you _don't_ like about the Clip Zip, or are you just wondering if there are competitive products that you might prefer? What is it about the Fuze that you don't like?

I would like longer battery life. At least 30 hours would be good for a Clip sized player, or 50+ hours for a larger player. I would also like something with a metal case, and preferably a standard easily swappable battery. I also want variable speed playback with pitch correction in the firmware that comes with the player.
