Player skips/pauses when "hold" function released

When I am listening to music, I use the "hold" function. Then when I take it off hold, it sometimes does one of three things: skips a track forward, skips a track back, pauses. These things happen on their own, i do not press or touch the buttons that would do these functions, i only undo the hold slider. Any advice?

Update:
I purchased a refurbished Creative Zen Vision M on Ebay. My old player was still mostly functional, but after researching the players currently on the market, it seemed like a good idea to get another Zen while I still could (as newer players do not have the features I want).
