Default Does religion make you fat?

"Many religions condemn overeating and gluttony. Yet young adults who frequently attend religious activities are 50 percent more likely to turn into obese middle-agers than those with no religious involvement, according to research from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine."

The old order Amish are on average much less overweight than Americans as a whole. Do cars make us fat, or is it, tv, the internet, or electricity? Perhaps churches should close their parking lots, and require everyone to walk to church?

Well some people do rely on praying to their deity to live another day instead of looking at what they eat so they live longer.I'm just talking through experience lol

I think it leads to stupidity more than obesity.

Not nice. And that comment shows itself how stupid it can be, which will then show you that other people are just as stupid, just sayin'.

i think most organised religions are dumb and have a lot to answer for; but people with faith are often the nicest human beings.

People with faith tend to force their beliefs on others, which is not a nice thing to say the least. Also, do you think terrorists are nice? They're quite faithful.

If religion didn't affect nonreligious people I would be all for it, but it causes all sorts of violence and prejudice.

Btw:
My intention is not to upset or offend anyone, it was mostly a joke and i find blasphemy hilarious. I see it as religious people have the right to speak and spread their religion and i have the exact same right to spread my agnostic view point.

I realize that non-religious people are also stupid, lots of people are stupid, in fact most are. My point is that religion forces those who "believe" in "faith" to ignore facts and theories with solid scientific backing.

I am all for letting people do as they wish, and would never tell anyone religion is wrong because to be honest some people need something and religion is an easy and socially acceptable path to filling holes in your life. That however does not change my views about organized religion, and i can not and will never support something such a sinister track record.

Chauvinism and sectarianism cause violence and prejudice - religion may form part of sectarianism but doesn't, I believe, cause violence and prejudice on its own.

You do talk shit sometimes, Satellite 6.

I guess the problem is that rekigious groups tend to serve traditional unhealthy foods at gatherings. I guess some groups feel that if there is little or no alcohol served at events, then there should be plenty of cake, chocolate, or donuts.

Many singles groups have dinners with very fattening food. I usually eat healthy food before the dinner, and eat little or no food at the dinner.
