Default Head-Fi Defector Checking In
Hello everyone

Just thought I'd say hi. I'm new to ABI, but was around for a while on Head-fi (makes sign of cross with fingers) unti I got banned permanently recently.

Why did I get banned? Well, that will remain forever a mystery, since I am forbidden to access the private message they sent me telling me I was permanently banned. Gotta love the logic of that.

It might have been something to do with having a sense of humour, or suggesting that double blind testing would reveal just how much snake oil gets flogged to the naieve in high end audio. Probably a combination of both. Being British more than likely didn't help either.

Anyway, howdy and hope to see you around on the boards.

Well, if that's indeed all they charged you with, i think you won't have much problems here. the forum and especially their reviewers like to compliment their opinions with facts and a scientific approach in a world full of subjectivity.

also, we don't like snake oil very much as well, it's bad for the skin and gives rashes all the time.


about being british. that may be a problem, so i would keep that low on the radar.

Did you commit the cardinal sin of doubting the excellence of the almighty HifiMan players? I know that doesn't go over well there.....so welcome to ABI.

Yes, at various times I did cast aspertions on the revered 801 hunk of junk god they worship. But hey, if people want to spend small fortunes on things that dont work properly, that's their business. It sure is a mixed up crazy ball of madness we live on, but where else can we go?

Me too. It was a weekly drama pretty much. In the end, I think they finally got tired of me messing up their tediously kneejerk world of invisible rules and regulations and cut the bunjy rope.

Welcome! There are certainly a number of Head-Fi people here, even if they are mostly lurkers (like me).

I'm proud to say I've never been banned from Head-Fi, although I think that's because my rants about DBT, RMAA, testing, and all that stuff have been on forums where the admins don't think I'm a kook for asking scientific testing be done in the way scientists actually test stuff

EDIT: Given the number of HF defectors to ABi these days, perhaps a new Social Group is in order? Maybe something like "Ex-HeadFiers - Once Lost, Now Found..."

Hehe that crazy "scientifical" stuff doesn't go down too well over there does it? Facts usually get in the way of that sites ability to market and advertise products and line Jude's pockets with cash.

I enjoyed reading your posts on Head fi, and couldn't for the life of me understand why you were banned. A lot of people have been banned lately.

Nowadays I stay away from things that do not interest me (HifiMan & S:flo2 included), so that should keep me from being banned as well.

If you want to discuss stuff like Cowon DAP:s, this is the place! (well, iaudiophile is okay as well). For headphone and earphone discussions, I do prefer Head-fi. Despite the recent threads where people actually seem to be interested in Scullcandy...
