Default what is the best copycat-iPod-software UI experience on a portable

I was wondering what is the best copycat firmware UI experience on a portable media player. It could be a audio-only player.

Not the software on the PC itself but the PMP firmware's usability and scrolling between artists on a portable?

Then it would be called firmware which is on the player, not software like itunes. You might want to edit the thread title.
