What chance the adding of Monkey's Audio to the codecs handled by the R0 in a future firmware update? O.k., it's not that much of a hassle to convert to FLAC, but a direct ability to read .ape files would be most welcome.

How does "virtually no chance at all" sound? Not many players support .ape files and I don't expect that to change soon.

FLAC is so much more commonplace, if I was you I would just convert all APE files I owned to FLAC and use it in the future instead of APE.

There is no chance. Firmwares do not add features, they just fix bugs.
If you knew how crazy and long is the internal process to change anything, even a minor thing, you would better understand what I mean...

Thanks for the replies. I don't have that many .ape files so it will not be too much of a chore to convert the to FLAC (which I tend to use as the default anyway).
