Default Splicing stock earphones from HTC desire with in-ear plugs from walkman X-1000

I got The Best Phone In The World on a very reasonable contract a few weeks ago. The HTC desire does everything including playing music at half-decent quality. The earphones that it came with, however, are poor. They leak sound both ways and simply don't fit in my ear properly and I am only still using them because the little remote control/mic attached to the wire allows me to change music without having to unlock my phone and I can answer a call with just the twitch of the finger.

This leaves me with a dilemma, because the in-ear phones I use with my Sony walkman X-100 are very decent with pretty much no sound leakage. I'm wondering if it is even possible (leaving out difficulty for now) to take the small remote from the HTC earphones and wire it into the in-ear phones of my walkman without compromising the noise cancellation the in-ear phones give me on my sony walkman. Now, I am a computer scientist, but my tech savvyness does not extend to sound engineering, yet, so I have no idea about the inner-workings of these earphones, thus why I am writing for help!

Noise Cancellation is impossible.

Noise cancellation uses two mics mounted on the earpieces as the crux for the noise cancellation. Without the specific software, the IEM's won't noise cancel. Additionally, I'd think that the mic on the remote will interfere with the ones on the IEM's.
