Unhappy I want to replace my old X5. Help needed :)

Hello, i want to replace my old Cowon X5 for numerous reasons and i need some help chosing a new mp3 player. Here are my criterias :

- I don't care about video, pictures etc, i just want a good audio player
- I would like at least 16gb of storage, 32 would be better
- 30 hours of battery life would be nice (the more the better)
- A mini-usb port would be great because most of my devices use this and i hate having lots of cables around
- I want to be able to add songs without using any specific software

Right now, i didn't find any player matching all my criterias, but maybe i'm missing something. Actually, the Cowon D2 seems really nice but i read it's very picky when it comes to id3 tags. The problem is : i don't want to spend hours editing my id3 tags.

The Cowon I9 seems nice too, but it has a proprietary port.

Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated

I know it's still a little pricey since it's new on market, but how about the 32gb cowon J3, it also has storage expansion if you add microSD card as it has the slot. Amazon has them http://www.amazon.com/COWON-Portable.../dp/B003Q6CUD0

Hi WalkGood, thanks for your answer.

I have, indeed, considered buying a Cowon S9 or J3, but as you say, they're a bit pricey and they are because of some features i don't care about. They're great, but maybe a little bit too sophisticated for me.

I recommended cause they're very good and you did say "32gb would be better." I wouldn't let the feature set put you off, not many use them all and if it wasn't for their MSC & JetEffects sound enhancement features I wouldn't recommend them. So if it's in the budget, that's one of the better available for your requirements, on a more budget note you could look at the 8gb fuze and get a 16gb card for it. The fuze's advantage would be that you can rockbox it and have great sound enhancement features as well, along with many other features ...

Well, i'd be willing to buy a J3 if it met all my criterias, but it has proprietary port, which i'm really not found of. I'd be willing to pass on that on a cheaper player but i don't want to pay such a high price for a "non-perfect" player.

The Fuze is nice, but if i want to use it properly with an additional SD card, i'd have to browse by tags, which i'd rather avoid (folder browsing makes more sense to me).

You can always rockbox the fuze and browse by folder, but then again it also has a proprietary port. Keep in mind there isn't any "perfect" players as you say but with rockbox the fuze is very good for the price.

Thanks for your answers.

Well, there's no reason why such a player wouldn't exist, for example, the Philips Gogear Vibe (as i found out) matches all my criterias, so i added it to my list and i'm looking around for something a little better, if it exists.

I like the Fuze too, and i know Rockbox would allow folder browsing, but then the internal memory wouldn't be merged with the SD memory, which might not be very easy to use.

I know i might sound like a pain, but as i'm not planning on changing player every month, i'm really trying to find something closest to perfect as possible.

Just my opinion that Philips Gogear doesn't come close to a j3 or fuze but it's your money ... I view it more like a affordable/budget MP3 player and more comparable to the Clip but I'd rather have the Clip for the long run.

fuze has folder browsing as one of its features in its original firmware

dgb52, thanks for the heads up, I thought it did but wasn't 100% sure.
