Default Would Hippo vb be a better alternative to Shure scl4

I have the white Shure scl4 I bought for $80 a while back when they were on sale. Pretty solid phones I have to say, but overall Shure phones as a whole are a little lacking in bass and are a bit too bright for me. I keep looking at the Hippo VB and was wondering if that would be a better option for me.

I'll be using these on a Cowon D2 if it matters at all.

i try not to post anything about products i've just recieved, mine arrived yesterday. out of the box impressions like many of the top ten products at abi i really wasn't expecting to be disappointed. i'm not.
the 90 degree plug fits nicely with the d2. yes it matters, a long straight plug is suspectable to strain in pocket.
i have shure se310s not the 4 series. stock tips on the vbs are just ok. i have comply tx500s; the ones with the wax barrier which give better isolation. I don't think the stock tips will ever be as good at blocking external sound as double flange or olives on the shures. the vbs are acceptable with foams, not lawnmower or jackhammer but good enough.
even new with just a few hours the vbs have a pleasant sound quality. bass is full without sharp peaks in that frequency range. in fact right up through the mid range seems almost liquid. treble might be the downfall in comparison to a multi driver iem. almost like listening to cymbals crash through a sheer fabric; there but the shimmer is veiled. if other reviews are correct i expect some change in the treble with more hours. the complys presently seem to tame a slightly peaky top end. whether i keep the complys on or change to the sony hybrid tips is just too early to tell.
right out of the box very listenable. i using the 2 dot bass plates. nice iem and a great value. bass presentation is spot on, quality and quantity.
