Sony Might Just Launch a Remodeled UMD-Based PSP

Quote:
Various talks about a completely new (still) UMD-based PSP got more credible just recently when a reference to a possible system appeared in UK game industry magazine MCV's most recent issue. This is where you can find the magazine, only minding that its website is almost completely flash-based (Just thought of letting you know, for the ones of you that have flash blockers. I know I do).
There was an ad for the peripheral manufacturer Accessories4Technology that showed (and still shows, come to think about it) support for something it called a PSP-4000 model, among both the existing UMD models and the PSP Go. All in all, there is no telling yet, if the ad is accurate, namely if it is an actual preview of Sony's plans, or just pure speculation from the accessory maker.
As far as I know, Sony will typically deny each and every rumor about its plans, even if the rumor is completely accurate. Nevertheless, the people at Accessories4Technologies didn't comment on the authenticity of their ad (which can only make me think it is a contract agreement, that thou shall not comment on our future launches, signed with Sony, but I'm also speculating, come to think about it).
Expectations about the (so to say) upcoming PSP model are actually stating that it will have only a better design, namely slimming the portable console down, or even better, that Sony will fit better hardware in the same chassis, without changing that at all. What Sony did state is that it plans to maintain selling UMD-based PSPs, alongside the PSP Go, even if that alone targets downloads. One issue is that of the PSP Go that has such a high price (namely $250) that it pushed both customers and retailers to hesitate and look more for the older, but a lot cheaper console.

Opinion:
Sony needs to stop rushing out PSPs, and rethink about what to add... not just adding one feature then releasing a psp, repeating that
