Default Did I turn my D2 into a paper weight???

So I successfully installed the D2+ firmware and (for the most part) everything was functioning for a couple weeks. While adding some songs one day, I accidently pulled the USB cable without ejecting the player. After that, it would turn on, but the touchscreen wouldn't work. In a moment of frustration, I held down the 'Power' & 'Menu' buttons, now it doesn't turn on and is not recognized by my computer.

Is there anyway out of this, or did I kill it???

TIA!!!

I've been running the D+ firmware for many weeks, without issue - I guess you just had some bad luck after the eject problem.

Power + Menu button puts the device into recovery mode. Your screen is blank, but it's actually on - I just tested this myself. It looks like the way to get out of this mode is to slide the power button for a few seconds so it turns off, then power it up again.

If it continues to be a brick, I would recommend a restore as mentioned here:

(notice that it talks about recovery mode)

Thanks for the reply.

Powering it off then back on does nothing on mine.

I followed the instructions on the link you provided, but get an error when trying to run 'tcctool -d cowond2 d2N.bin' from the command prompt: "[ERR] Ensure your TCC device is in USB boot mode and run tcctool again."

I've several times holding the 'Menu' & 'Power' buttons down in between but each time I get the above error.

Any other suggestions before I toss it???

Thanks!

Well, after trying to recover the 'brick' via the posted thread with no luck, and after trying for a couple hours to get an OS (XP & OSX) to even recognize the drive, I finally decided to try disconnecting the battery and proceeded to take it apart.

That did the trick! After removing & re-connecting the battery, it immediately started up but was back at the state where the touchscreen was not functioning. I just went ahead and installed the latest D2+ firmware (I had 3.02 installed) and all is good again!

I don't know what state it was in when I was having this problem because after I got it running again I was able to put it into recovery mode and bring it back (as you suggested) by turning it off and back on. Weird!

Good to hear! My last suggestion would have been to open it up. :-)

That is weird - it's like it was frozen and the power button just didn't do anything. I've never seen this problem, before.

I would have suggested that you press the Reset Button...That just disconnects all power from the D2...Sort of like turning your house lights on and off...

Holding the power switch to the off position for about 30 seconds would do the same thing too, but the reset works the best.
