Default If the S9 had WiFi would you pay $40 more for it?

There are always some who don't understand why WiFi is asked for in wishlists. I think most of us get it, and I know anyone who has played with an iPod Touch gets it.

So if they added Wifi, along with at least 5 apps to take advantage of it, would you pay another $40 over the current price?

Secondly, what 5 apps would you most like to have that would take advantage of internet access for info? Some examples include: Email, Weather, Browser, web radio, wifi syncing with your PC, gameplay over wifi, Google maps, Youtube, Music store, etc..

No doubt I would pay an extra $40 if it had WiFi. As for apps I would like, all the ones you suggested would be great.

I gladly pay $40 extra for the dang thing!!!! Plus, the addition of a few time-consuming games would be the killer!!!! The only reason I've kept the Touch 2G is cause I use it to play some games on. That, and the bigger screen real estate for vids (which the S9 totally blows the Touch away at).

Hey, guys, port Bejeweled over to the S9 and I'll order 1 tomorrow!!!!
PLEASE!!!!

I have a horrifyingly laggy Bejewelled knock-off on my S9 xP

Wi-fi, I'd have to say no. The extra $40 puts it into the Touch's price range. When I was shopping around for a PMP one of the big draws for the S9 was the fact that it was a slight bit cheaper without sacrificing anything that I would miss.

I admit internet browsing would be pretty cool to have, but I'd be sort of wary - I'd have a suspicion that Cowon wouldn't implement it as snazzily as Apple, plus lack of multitouch + smaller screen would make it a bit uncomfortable for long periods of time.

If you add $40 you might as well go with the touch...

But if I had bought a touch I would have had to shell out another $100 for an authentic copy of windows or apples OS. Screw that.

No you dont... If you have an ipod you can use a lot of linux aps to put your music on it for example Rythmbox supports it and my podcast downloader does too (Gpodder).

BTW Who honestly buys windows theses days :P

Eh....maybe. I think Archos does it best, and that isn't quite the best anyway. I'm not always near a wi-fi spot, and when I am, I have no need for it.

If it was like the iPhone, where you had service no matter where you are, then heck, I'd pay for it. But I like the battery life it has now, as it is, and it seems they paid attention to the other things I'd prioritize in a player, first.

no, it's a music player first for me, then a video player and for the rest I don't care that much. Besides, almost everywhere where there is wifi I can get hold of a decent computer to check my mail etc.

If it had the option I probably would have gone for it. But as it is now I don't miss it that much especially as I'm planning on getting the Palm Pre when it's available and I can still use the S9 for music/video.

now, the s9 having wi-fi with a web browser, e-mail, and youtube app would be amazing. but i have to say i wouldn't pay the extra $40 for the same reason the others have said. most of the time i don't find the need to use wi-fi even if im in a hot-spot. i have the patience to wait till i get home...

No. I just listen to music on the S9.

I have a Touch. It has WiFi and also plays music. What it does with WiFi alone justifies it's existence. I rarely listen to music on the Touch but I'll pick it up to check the weather, email, stocks, and even a web site or two rather than wait 10 minutes for my Vista PC to boot up. The S9 gets picked up when I want some music or a video to entertain me. I'd prefer a mutant device with the AMOLED of the S9, audio processing of the S9, weight of the S9, shape of the S9, and WiFi+WiFi features of the Touch.

No, no need for Wi-Fi at all. Whenever/if ever I need it, I will keep it separate from my music player.

Wi-fi is only tuely useful if you can download mp3 files, and pictures straight from the net. an equivelent of save target as... Then it really becomes useful. Then give your s9 and app to edit ID# tags, I'd buy it for way more than $40 extra.

Nope, I'd pay an extra £15 ($20) for wifi. I'd definitely not pay that much for wi-fi. especially since most browsers are poor.
