Default ZVM : Firmware failure, "Rebuilding" problem and possibly dodgy HDD

Ok so my ZVM is not new its roughly a year and a half old now it's had it's fair share of drops. After about 6 months or so it started "rebuilding", as time has come on it has become quite regular and i mean three four times a week, It was today where the biggest problem had happened, I started playing some songs but now and again it would have a file reading problem and be unable to play the song, it also started locking up if i tried moving around too much and require a reset.... Also when i start up even post reformat ALL my music appears on my artist list but not on my PC explorer! On my ZVM stats menu, where it gives version number ect it says i have 29GB free with about 203MB used which is also strange.

Firmware issue - I've attempted to scrub it three times now and it seems to stay on the same version as it was prior to these problems, i had it fully updated so it isn't doing as it should!

I Think i'll have to get a new HDD or just fully renew my MP3 player i love my ZVM but i dunno if its fixable i think my ZVM has just been through too much and it's popped it's clogs

Yeah, sounds like the drive may either be failing or in need of a Format to re-create the file system and then reload the firmware.

Thanks bobby it's reformatted i've reloaded the firmware now to see if it will stay responsive during file transfers and writing.

Edit - All looking well at the moment, now is just a test of time.

Yeah it's been working fine all day haven't had a rebuilding session yet... i think that ZVM HDDs just can't cope with over 25GB on the HDD i've reloaded reformatted and customized my firmware and 100% working.
