Default P2 Audio

Does anyone know which lossless music formats are supported? I never used any other format except for mp3. But I've got an album in FLAC format and I would like to put it on my P2.

I've tried some converting program's but they didnt really work and made the files too big. Does anyone know a good program to convert lossless music files?

Flac will never be supported.
And no other formats.

If you want Flac, just buy a Cowon :P

because only a minority of people use lossless formats, so that Samsung does not feel it is necessary. It has never been part of Samsung policy and will probably never be (except if one day Flac becomes famous)

FLAC is the most widely used and supported lossless format. If Samsung ever gets the point and starts supporting lossless (Even apple does it, sort of...) then it will likely be FLAC supported.

You can always convert your FLAC files to high quality mp3 for use on the P2.

It's a really easy process, and if you use the LAME encoder, you will get near imperceptible compression.

First, you have to have the FLAC decoder executable. You can get the latest one here:

http://rarewares.org/lossless.php#flac-bundle

Download the MSVC8 bundle and extract flac.exe to a special folder.

Also, get the LAME encoder executable:

http://rarewares.org/mp3-lame-bundle.php

Download the LAME 3.97 release and extract LAME.exe to the same folder as flac.exe

Then go here:

http://members.home.nl/w.speek/all2lame.htm

And get the all2lame frontend. Download this program to the same folder as before. It is a frontend for LAME encoding. Open it and you can "add files" to get the flac files you want. Then, you're going to have to pick a "switch" for mp3 encoding. In this box I type:

Code:
-V2 --vbr-new
This gives me high quality mp3's that I can't tell the difference from lossless at about 190 kbps. Make sure to set an appropriate output folder and select "Encode"

Try it. You'll really appreciate how easy it is once you've got all2lame setup. It gives you TOP NOTCH quality mp3's too. With V2, you won't be able to tell the difference between your FLAC and the mp3.

Also, you might have to tag the new mp3 files, so get a program called mp3tag and open it. Browse for the folder where you made your mp3s and select them. You can then download tag info (Including album art) from the Amazon database. For more info about using mp3tag, click here: http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum...ad.php?t=18362

This is silly, given that we are talking about a DAP here, I don't see how you could truly pick up on the difference between a 320kbps encoded MP3 and lossless using anything but a miniamp and IEMs (with would you probably could, but people who lug that stuff around probably all have Cowon's anyway).

You're silly

I have an amp and top notch armature IEMs. I am by no means an audiophile, but I think it's fair to say that properly encoded mp3s are near impossible to tell apart from CD quality. But you can definitely tell the difference between most CBR mp3 encodes (192 and lower) and lossless. Easily. That said, why would anyone use 320 kbps when you can use LAME VBR instead?
