Default Minimal design/style?

Many MP3 players, most notably iPods, sport a contemporary, "minimal" design which is generally considered to be futuristic or fashionable. Who here is into this minimal-style trend?

As for me, I'm not to particularly fond of minimal. Half of the time, it's just a clever excuse for crappy design!

With a minimal design it's harder to implement many features. Even the simple features become complicated. If I can use the example of the iPod having no designated volume controls. This only make it harder to use.
