It was designed explicitly NOT to support UMS. What you look for is probably a U10 with 2 GB, as available in Asia and Europe.

When you use the M6 as UMS device, I was told that new files are added automatically to the playlist database.

How is this done? Does the M6 do it every time? I guess no - it boots much faster...

I guess, Microsoft and iriver did there best so that you can use WMP only.

Maybe there's an option to batch WMP - but I doubt that this can be done easily.

U10 2GB would be the better choice...
