The HD600 and HD650s have a slightly different sound signature. The HD600 has a more pronounced midrange, and the HD650 have more sparkle on the treble. It comes down to music and personal choice.

Just make sure that the sleeving is flexible enough. Even if the cable is only 3 feet, having a stiff cable would make it very difficult to use, both at home and on the road.
