i had the same problem with 5.05. upgrading to 5.08 seems to have fixed the freezing playlist issue (at least for me)

i don't even bother with video podcasts on the p2. theres no way i have enough time in the morning to wait for each of my video rss feeds to be encoded before i can get to work.

i just use my psp...

do yourself a favour and don't use SMS when encoding video. i had nothing but blurring and ghosting issues with it. switched to badak and videos look good now.

there is no bookmarking or resume for datacasts. pretty lame since i'm pretty sure it comes in MUCH more handy than resuming any typical 3 minute song when audio podcasts are generally much longer.
