It's some sort of sollution that fills the gap and gets hardened.

It'll make that scratch non-visible.

I use Ubuntu and have been using my S9 in both MTP (Amarok as sudo) and as MSC device. Not a single problem here.

The biggest move I made to my S9 was 15 Gb and that was a S9 16 Gb to S9 32 Gb tranfser over 2 USB ports with my Ubuntu notebook. No problem there.

MSC works out of the box: the S9 gets connected just like an USB stick.

MTP needs installing a package: mtp-tools. And you need Amarok...
