Ended up buying the Cineplayer - very nice. clean crisp picture. 9" screen.
Happy with it.

So how good is the video quality (of the 5 & 7) compared to portable DVD's or even other Archos products?

Do these units have brightness, contrast controls....

Philips makes a 9" version that has a SD slot. As far as I can tell the 7 " does not come with a SD slot.
But the battery life is not as long as the 7"
As long as I get one movie (2 to 2 1/2 hrs)...

Thanks - I may end up with either a Sony DVP-FX950 or a Toshiba SDP935.
Both 9"screens, plays DVD's & has a USB Slot.
The Archos new IT models do have nice screens but over my budget.
