Does anyone like Arcade Fire?
 

It's taken me ages to get around to listening to them, but I really love their music.

I've heard the albums Funeral and The Suburbs - kind of like a mixture of Talking Heads, Depeche Mode, Radiohead and Echo and the Bunnymen, but better than all those artists in my opinion.

They have a very strange & uneven sound. Even tho I've not heavily listened to them they're a welcome change to all the kiddie clone-rock bands out now. I like what I've heard so far,...

Good Stuff. Another like them is the National. good stuff there too!!

Arcade Fire is a decent band.

I really like Funeral. Great album. I like Neon Bible and The Suburbs too, but Funeral is the only one I really need.

Jeven, why are they better than all the other artists you mentioned? Better in musicianship? Better in creativity? I'm curious as to know why because I'm always looking for new bands to listen to.

Me neither. I only heard one song from AF, but it's gotta be said that Radiohead is immensely creative and talented.

Radiohead is definitely better, but that's not a knock against Arcade Fire. I like Funeral about as much as my favorite Radiohead albums, but notice that with Radiohead that is a plural noun.

Well, I'm a Depeche Mode fan, and arcade fire isn't even a close fifth in that lineup. And Radiohead are amazingly good - easily a tie with DM.

Except on a thread that asks for people to share their assho---ahem, opinions.

Maybe not better than Radiohead as that band has been around longer and has a bunch of quality albums.

But I would say The Suburbs is as good an album as Ok Computer and better than anything by the other bands I mentioned - I think it's been rated as high or higher by a lot of people, too. For me, it's a combo of a great instrumentation, lyrics etc.

Depeche Mode I don't really like, they're naff, but recognise their influence.

Well, i have pretty much all of Radiohead, and I have Funeral, Neon Bible, and The Suburbs....but I haven't listened to AF in a while. Not because I don't like them, just getting more music altogether.

I think overall I'd classify AF as a "greatest hits" band.....where if I was loading a player with limited space I would just choose certain tracks from each album and not the entire albums. But of course, YMMV.

I own no Talking Heads, Echo/Bunnymen, or Depeche Mode, either.

As for RH they are an "album" band where every almost every song is a knockout.

I disagree - they're one band whose albums - like Radiohead - are best listened to completely, and from start to finish..

You could just listen to individual tracks - like with Radiohead's Let Down or No Surprises from Ok Computer - and the songs are great, but you wouldn't be getting the most from the album.

The Suburbs reminds me of Pet Sounds or London's Calling - it's that good.

To me it sounds like they are just copying the Waterboys
