Advice on Portable Amp needed.
Well I have been using a pair of Audio Techina Headphones XS-7 for about 3months and I usually play songs from my iPhone. The ohm impedance of those headphones are roughly around 40ohms and most of my songs are about 320kbps. i feel that the bass of the headphones are weak and not strong enough, the vocals are also not quite thr. I was wondering if I require an amp. I am very in favour of the Fiio E5 amp. Fiio E5 amp is pretty cheap and there are many good reviews about it. So do I require an amp? maybe you guys can provide some suggestion of a cheap and good portable amp.

I too have a MP3 player zen X-fi3. the amp in the MP3 player is tiny, so a portable amp will definitely help right?

Sounds to me that you have already sold yourself on buying an amp and now you’re looking for validation. An amp does not improve the quality of bass or midrange (vocals fall in the midrange area) and IMHO is not needed for 40 ohm cans. That said, some amps do have bass boost and may improve the bass quantity but not necessarily the quality of bass … do what Marvin suggested and save your money or buy new cans. You can read further information on why to amp here.

No, it's sold, TDS. I would be willing to sell my Digizoid ZO2 though, but I agree with the above posters. Try an eq app first.

The Fiio E6 is so much better than the E5 both in terms of lower noise and amplification. The Fiio E11 looks very interesting, however I decided not to get it since it won't function while charging.
