J3 over the Z2?
 

so im planning on buying a new player, and my number 1 choice at this moment is the the J3. I had a zune hd before but im disappointed in the lack of support that has plagued zune users for a while now. the reason why I am considering the z2 is because there were reports that cowon is stopping support for the j3. What exactly does that entail? will it be like what happened with the Zune hd? or will they still fix issues and try to improve usability?

and also, does the z2 have gapless playback? if so it takes a major jump up.

overall, which is a better buy? J3 or Z2?

The warranty is the warranty and depending on where you live it can be from 1 year (USA) to 2 years (other countries).

They're not making the player any more, which means there most likely is not going to be any more firmware updates. But AFAIK stability & usability is fine and there are a lot of themes & stuff available. If I had the spare cash, I know I'd buy one before they can't be found new anymore.

No, it isn't gapless. But I believe with a 3rd party music app it might be able but I'm not sure, Kizune should know.

For me it's the J3 hands down, others may feel differently.

I still have problems with Google Play (formely Android Market), but I'll test some apps and report back.

Alright guys thanks for the suggestions and info. Is there any other current player that has gapless and the same sound quality or better than the j3? i kind of want something that will be supported for the next few years...

The J3 sounds just as good as any quality player. The EQ and sound enhancements are what give it an edge. Buy it and enjoy.

As for Android on an mp3 player - I personally dislike it. YMMV,...

I recently replaced my Zune HD with a J3. The sound quality of the J3 is far superior to the Zune and the J3 user interface is much better too. If you still have your Zune magnetic leather case, it is fairly simple to modify it for use with the J3. I used a very small pair of sissors to cut the case for access to the buttons on the sides. I used a razor knife and a straight edge to cut the top bar of the window in half so I could see the very top of the screen.
