Samsung R0 DNSe 3.0 - does anyone use it?

People will either love or hate audio processing, but to me DNSe can improve the sound.

I have been using the "Normal setting" for ages, but decided to try switching DNSe on. The default presets are a bit too much, making your own preset is preferable.

Here are my settings:

Audio upscaling = On
3D = 0
Bass = 0 (bass = 1 was too overpowering for me)
Clarity = 1

I've also tried 3D = 1 but not sure if I like it or not.

Does anyone else use DNSe?
Do you think it improves the sound?

P.S. I know it kills battery.

Audio upscaling is supposed to improve the sound of low bitrate files.
You don't need it if you encode your songs with decent settings (more than 128kbps) and in reality on both low and high bitrate files it adds annoying distorsions.
As you say DNSe kill the battery life so don't enable this shitty useless audio upscaling ;)

At first Clarity seems to sound fine to me but whenever I come back to the "normal settings" I just feel all those DNSe settings don't sound natural.

And I don't advise to get used to DNSe. Rockbox is here now and there are no DNSe! :D

Thanks I will switch it off.

I encode my MP3 as high quality 256 VBR anyway, I was using 320 CBR but VBR is supposed to be almost as good but smaller.

I do have my collection in FLAC, but I can't tell the difference really.

Lebellium,

You have a lot of Samsung devices!

I bought an 8Gb R0 as it was a decent price for an 8Gb MP3 player, well made, and it can display album art.

I've had a few issues it often freezes on startup (even with 2.20 MOD ROM) but generally I'm very impressed with it, especially the sound quality.
