iBasso T5
Anyone tried one of these babies yet?
http://www.ibasso.com/en/products/show.asp?ID=75 Guess the balanced ground is designed to put it head to head with the Corda Stepdance / Stepdance 2? Is it likely to have much impact on perceived sound quality? |
My T5 arrived today.
First impressions, before even using: it's so tiny! Bloody hell is it tiny. |
Second impressions: it works really well.
But since ordering it, I've decided I'm going to upgrade my headsphones, so need the cash that a quick sale will offer. So, if you want a brand new - used for less than 1 hour - iBasso T5, at a superduper bargain price, click here: http://anythingbutipod.com/forum/sho...238#post586238 |
I'll be finding out how good it is soon enough,...I'm quite anxious to see if it works as well as claimed.

It's good, and it's LOUD!!! I find the Digizoid ZO has better bass though - and the claims of the caps "burning in" are ridiculous. Still, quite good for an audio buff looking for clean sounding amping,...I like it quite a lot. Plus, I don't hear static with my Sony MDR-V900HD's like I've heard with some of the other "cheap-o" amps I've had (FiiO E3, PAVA2, even the Digizoid Zo).
I do have 2 issues so far: First, it's makes quite a bit of noise & static when you turn it off,...annoying but not a deal breaker. Second, the volume seems to reset after you turn it off. That means I have to readjust it every time I power off & back on again. Annoying, but not major. This is actually a hearing saving feature IMO, as I switched between this & the ZO and nearly had my ears bleed!!! No a good feeling,... Overall it's quite a nice device,...I'll be testing the SQ over the next few days - Thanks BennyBoy!!! |

Well, I used it last night with my ath-pro700mk2's and I discovered something. This really IS a neutral amp. No bass enhancement, no mid or highs being altered,...it's just a clean boost. I even used my EQ setting for the cans and the SQ was fantastic. And the volume thing is a non-issue I guess. I'll just see if it creates a problem and act accordingly.
And, the phones I'm using are quite sensitive (ath-pro700mk2's), so I have the gain set to low - I really don't need a mega-power boost. I personally just want enough power to the HP's to have the output unrestrained or restricted (I guess that's how you'd phrase it,...). I might even opt for the Bayer Dynamic DT770 80 ohm now,...I think it's child's play for THIS little amp. Oh, BTW - the Sony MDR-V900HD is friggin' BRILLIANT with this amp!!! I was TOTALLY AMAZED!!! |
Nice to hear you're enjoying :) and if you think the sony's are brilliant, just wait till you hear the DT770 :p
|
Thanks WG - I can't wait!!!

Sounds like they could be on the way ;)
