Anybody familiar with "Element" brand players?

I've recently gotten my mitts on a number of "troubled" players of various brands that are not included in these forums. One of them is Element, which I believe comes from Sears. I got them cheaply enough so that they were worth it even if only to be used as flash drives, but I'd like to find out more about them and see if I can combine the good parts to make a few good players.

BTW, the ones I have that I've tested so far are the GC900's and the GC800's.

Never heard of them but if itís from Sears, itís got to be OEM. Although I have heard of Element Skateboards, they make excellent blanks ;)

It's your basic China junk with a "brand" name slapped on it.

Here's info on the generic OEM variant of the "GC800": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S1_MP3_Player

Note on GC940 disassembly.

I had spent some time writing a follow-up concerning my disassembly of one of these (a GC940, 2 GB), and when it was lost (due to a bug in this site's system) I got frustrated and forgot about it for a while.

I'll just summarize what I found: there are no separable components, except perhaps the battery (by desoldering). FYI, here is the labeling on the GC940 battery:
JU ZHAO
033035 0809
3.7V 230mAh
BTW, I can't read the printing on any of the chips.
