Offical ABI S9 Review
 

The Cowon S9 Review is up. Bear with me im currently uploading and editing the video for it- everyone in the IRC channel was getting impatient =)

You should subscribe to the ABI YouTube video channel so it can notify you when its up and also any other reviews, CES stuff, or whatever. I plan on making only HD videos from now on too =)

Good review, but I would have preferred a more in-depth analysis of S9's music playback and sound quality. How does the player deal with gaps? How thorough is the FLAC support (48khz/tags)? Also, listing 'no multi-touch' as a con is erroneous since Apple has monopoly on the technology.

Good review, but what is the big deal about bad SQ in high volumes? Anyone who turns the music on such high levels gets hearing damage, and thus can't tell the difference anyways..

Is there not a way to remove all the songs from the playlist (favourites)? Having to press the x button a few hundred times gets rather tedious.

Also, it's pretty annoying how you can't add full albums to the favourites, I've found if you find the folder in the browser you can add it but really you should be able to press the add to favourites in the album menu. Unless I'm missing something really obvious :P.

For an MP3 player the adding / removing of music is really pap, that's my main gripe with it atm. Apart from that it's great, especially the video.

Good review ... should mention lack of RDS support (at least in the US) and lack of customizations (like wallpapers).

The manual states that FLAC is supported to 44khz ... which works just fine of course.

I got my S9 today. Does anyone know how to show a picture on the screen without icons above and below? That's a serious flaw!

Is S9 going on editor's picks???

I don't think it's as good as the P2 at the moment. Less innovation using the touchscreen. Less Bluetooth. If they come up with some FLASH content then I might change my mind. Right now it's a step down from the P2, and will seriously be under the P3 when it arrives.

I agree! Though S9 is better at playing music (better media library support, codec, etc) - but its inferior to the P2 in every other way.

It is of course completely within Cowon's power to change all that (though I highly doubt that they will - they may just rely on hype to sell as much as possible then move on to a new model - really hope its not the case).
