Black Thunder Custom Build

Custom Rockbox Build
updated March 3, 2009 rb r20190

USB NOW WORKS!

Patches:

9477 - %mo - View Mode
8523 - Disable WPS update when backlight off
8961 - Anti-Aliased Fonts
5886 - Rec goes to playlist viewer
2653 - One click insert

Included Themes:
Parilis, BigArtDuelScreen[WIP]

Update 3/3 - Synced to r20190
USB stack now works in rockbox, no need to reboot into original firmware for connection. No more needing an external card reader to add files to sdhc cards.
Update 2/24 - Synced to r20089
removed 4th quickscreen item due to being out of sync. No custom list yet, it caused problems with the plugins. Slowdowns in plugins should no longer be an issue.
Update 2/10 - Synced to r19905
no major updates here.
although charging within rockbox now works
Update 1/7 - Synced to r19697
Removed 9470 due to slow downs, removed 7432(SNC Viewer) because it wouldn't compile. Added 5886(use long record to go to playlist), 2653 (short record will add to playlist). Modified viewmodes to work with short record press. Added 4th quickscreen item. Included a master patch with all of my changes.

Info on changed controls

Long press of REC now takes you to current playlist. Short press on WPS will switch view modes (%mo tag). Short press in filebrowser will insert into current playlist (settings are available in playlist settings menu)

FS#9570 was mostly committed. I think the remainder of that patch just lowers the normal core clock to 24MHz, which saves a bit of power but probably lags the GUI a bit compared to 30MHz.

I noticed it was half committed when I applied it, I haven't noticed any difference one way of the other yet.

just tried out your build...

I like the %mo - View Mode feature and anti alias fonts - cool! :D

- but I can't get it to display list viewports for parilis themes:
list viewport: 10,17,156,193,1,ffffff,000000

- also which button do I press to get to run custom_menu.config and shortcuts?

thanks

blackthunder 12-22-2008 12:42 PM

I did not include the list viewport patch, I forgot I guess. For the custom menu I assume you mean the quick screen? To set that just hold select on whatever function you want to set to the quick screen.

happybear 12-22-2008 07:08 PM

Actually for custom menu I was thinking more of the file: custom_menu.config or user_custom_menu.config which one could access by -

  • long - press on play button (kugel build).
  • long - press on submenu button (isanggon build).

As for the shortcuts, one could access _shortcuts folder by long-pressing select key (isanggon build).

Thanks :)

Those are features from patches that I don't use

oxolodo 12-26-2008 11:04 PM

Thanks! That's exactly what I was looking for:)

The only thing I miss from the other builds is being able to press the REC button from the WPS and getting the current playlist. Is there a built in alternative? Is Long-Select, Select, Select (Context Menu, Playlist, View Current Playlist) the quickest way now?

great..!

:)

That is the only way I know to view the playlist, seems like a nice feature though. If you could point me in the direction of a patch I might be able to include it.

On another note, I've been unsuccessfully trying to modify the %mo patch to work with a short record. Currently I have it replacing the stop button. But thats a little awkward.

Just as a note, if you're providing a build binary, you also need to make you own provisions for providing a copy of the patched source code version your build is made from in case anyone asks for it. You can't simply depend on the Rockbox hosted copies of the source / patches.

blackthunder 01-02-2009 12:01 AM

If you would like a copy of the source I am more than willing to provide it. If required I can keep a copy on the mediafire page as well

saratoga 01-02-2009 12:25 AM

Its probably easiest if you just 'svn diff > file.patch' and post that along side your build. That way anyone can recompile your code easily.

Try patch #5886. I'm not sure if it is the one that kugel and others used, but the description matches.

I used my own coded one, but I should probably finish it to work with other targets and upload it.
The one you posted + this one: http://www.rockbox.org/tracker/task/2653 (as soon as it supports sansa e200 of course) should give the same behavior as it was in my build (+configurability which mine didn't have).

chadtheguru 01-02-2009 01:41 PM

Oh yeah. I forgot about that one. Very handy when throwing together a playlist.

blackthunder 01-07-2009 01:29 PM

Updated! Synced to 19697, added one click insert and view playlist patches as requested. Also changed %mo tag to use a short record press. A patch with all my changes from SVN is also now available.

chadtheguru 01-07-2009 02:24 PM

So from the WPS, a short record will go to the next view mode and a long record will show current playlist?

blackthunder 01-07-2009 03:46 PM

yes
