Mintpad!
found this while over at gmp3.com
http://product.mintpass.co.kr/p_mp100_conc.asp god I wish I could read Korean this player looks good but I have some quibbles... -no widescreen... seriously??? you think the old iRiver CEO would've known better.. keep up with the industry! they seem to have tagged this player as an all in one type player (even with wifi on a 2.86" screen... wtf) so obviously it's mean to play videos too but at that size and no widescreen.. yuck! -no AMOLED, will be a standard real soon! -pretty thick.. it's 15mm, I know it has user-removable battery but still.. is thick IMO, it seems like a D2 but.. D2 was released last year and I would've expected.. "more" in terms of design and stuff -looks like you really have to use the little pencil thing that comes with it to use it (doesn't look simple to use either lots of functions and subfunctions) -probably won't be released outside of Korea -no multi-touch, says it has a G sensor but I don't see it in action! other than that, looks real interesting and promising, don't know if it's released but the last tab has videos! dang! I didn't hear of this player before, I knew Mintpass existed but I guessed I must've browsed their English site or something.. |
is this a real product? cuz on the page it says "concept"...
it looks super awesome though |
oh I didn't read.. I don't know if it's out or not cuz it's in Korean but the whole like.. site (well all the tabs and links on the webpage anyways) were dedicated to the player so I'm assuming it's quite real, that and they had videos of the player in use (last tab!)
|
oh woowwww...that looks pretty cool ,actually.
|
Nice, that thing looks to be right in the middle between the Cowon D2 and O2, size-wise.
However, this concept looks even better... ;) |
ya I've seen those before, it's a cute idea though I'm not sure if I'd want that in my house.. but I still like it. very bauhaus

one more good information about this player.
http://asia.cnet.com/blogs/digihunte...tm?id=63007270 even no wifi or camera, I still like this player. it supports external memory and removable memory. 30 hrs and 5 hrs for music and vdo playback, respectively. some sites said its price is less than 200USD!! |
wannabe apple? that's just disrespectful.
there is camera and wifi, unless you were trying to say you'd still like it IF it didn't have it. I find the UI complicated, maybe it's cuz of the small screen or cuz they crammed so many functions and features into such a tiny player with a tiny screen, it's probably both. |
Um, Uh, NO!!! I don't really like it. The memory tops @4gb, and it tops the sd card @8gb. Blah,........MEH!!!
|
I don't want it, I just think it's pretty cool, but it lacks.. finesse?
|
Looks like Mintpass has meglomaniacal ideas of setting up a kind of messaging community along with an online content storage system. All to siphon your hard earned cash to pay for a service that your cellphone can pretty much take care of. I may be wrong but I don't see this working very well in the US. I wish Mint pass would just release some imaginative players instead of these whacky ideas.
|
oh didn't think about all that paying aspect

I think it is a culture's difference. In Korea and Japan, ppl always send short messages to others. That why MintPass creates a player like MintPad, I guess. |
so it's like msn but only among mintpass users (and on wifi) and you have to pay to use that service ..

Mint Pass as a company may be worth watching, but they need to hold off on the secret evil plans until after they release a few noteworthy players:) |
