P2 Full UMS/MSC! (Thanks to GMP3)
 

Ok guys
I bring the good news!
We've just found the solution on gmp3 to make the P2 full UMS!

So
1) You have to find a "config" file
It is not in the new firmwares anymore but in the older like the 1.11 FR (I'm french sorry lol) it is
so you can download it here:

2) Open it and modify it :
from
to
(EU because FR has a sound level limitation)
3) Copy the 3 files at the root:
-YPP2.rom
-YPP2.RSC
-config.DAT
4) The test has been realized with the 1.11 firmware but I think you can use any firmware: you just have to add this config file when you copy your YPP2.rom and YPP2.RSC files into the P2


Enjoy it: Linux, Mac, USB-Host

wow, thats great news for many, admins I think this should be stickied!

I can just assure you it works for a french MTP P2 with the 1.11 firmware but, although the latest firmwares don't need this config file to work, there is no reason it won't work with all european and american models with any firmware. So I'm waiting for your feedbacks^^

Also this might open up a whole new world of custom apps and hacks for this device.

Of course you do need the config.dat!!
I just said that the 1.20 MTP works without this file (there isn't this file in the firmware zip), that's why I wasn't sure that the config.DAT file would modify the connection mode but now I have the confirmation! Thanks ;)

And Samsung is not Apple, there is never hacks lol

wow great thing... but just to clarify will changing to ums make anything different? wat's the point of switching??

will allow pure drag and drop and will work with mac's, he main point to switch is to get more freedom and faster tranfers. shouldnt change anything on the player itself, just how is interacst with a computer.

also it should now work with the latest generation of games consoles, although I have yet to try this myself.

question. is it a US firmware?

I must be retarded or something I followed the guide and yet now my language is in french and I can't change it back to english I tried renaming the .dat file to US but argh no luck yet... any help?

Edit: Ok I got the firmware version to US but for some reason when I change the language it does not even change anything no letters no matter what language so Anyone know what language is english in french?

Edit 2: Damn what a pain but I got it renamed the .dat file to EN EN UMS and worked like a charm. Also Im on US Firmware 1.20. So I confirm this works with US Firmware 1.20. After almost wanting to break my precious p2 :(

woot... i got the korean 1.20 ums on my p2
just got the config.dat file from the link on the top of this forum and got the 1.20 firmware directly through the samsung website
changed the FR FR in the config.dat to KR KR

Is there any detriment to changing the player to UMS? i noticed two new folders popped up...

with "detriment" do you mean changing it back I think you just need to name the file back to the original ?? ?? MTP (fill in the ??s with your country.)

Well I just wondering if there would be any loss in functionality after converting to UMS besides the fact that it isn't MTP anymore. Oh, and is EN EN 'officially' the code for the US firmware?
