In their defence, trekstor is (IIRC) a german company so they might not have though about how the name would sound when read in english.

Yes they're German... and they probably don't have as much money as, say, Apple to spend on proper marketing and PR. Reminds me of the "Engrish" crap Cowon used to write in their ads, or even on their players themselves.

This is certainly the most unfortunate named player ever, and there is no cure for stupidity - but definitely no excuse for Gizmodo going all high-and-mighty PC on them, and demanding an "excuse"... it just sounds a bit overly hypocritical from an electronic gadget blog. IMO.

It's all one big satire, if my memory serves me well i've read quite a few articles there of people reacting to certain products saying that it's racist and gizmodo saying they should gtfo.

Yeah, I remember some Sony ad campaign - I guess it was in the Netherlands, even: a white (Caucasian) "angel" and a black (African-Netherlandian?) "devil"... Gizmodo got all acted up about that Dutch Sony campaign, too...

I stumbled across this page yesterday after my wife got an i.beat emo player at Office Depot for $5 after rebates. I was looking for a review of the emo and started laughing pretty hard when I found this on the blaxx. Good times.

And for the record, there is hardly any info on the emo.

The i.beat emo name has it's humorus side also... ;)

Tis' a tad bit ironic that Sammy chose to name it's new music/themes manager Emodio.. considering the beta/unreliability of the program as is.

Given the nature of the Emo persuasion (not that there's anything wrong with that..) and given the troubles Emodio is causing (at present).. here's hoping that any Emo's trying out Emodio aren't driven to self-mutilation.. ;)

i.beat has a wealth of naming possibilities at it's doorstep... i.beat Emu, i.beat Dodo, i.beat Kiwis.... I can see myself getting into trouble with PETA over this...lol
