They hold the battery which doesn't fit inside.
The original battery is dead so I bought one from ebay but it-s made for the 20/30GB models. So until I find one that fits, I took the wires out through the reset hole and soldered them to the new batt.

Or I might do a CF-mod which will result in more space inside and I'll be able to fit the battery too ;)

wouldn't be my choice of players, but you must be rich...

RaduSpeedy 06-27-2011 11:34 AM

I'm not, but I don't smoke, don't drink(that much):P and I have a job ;)
I bought it for 51 € from ebay (the X5)

I just have 3. From left to right:

1st Gen iPod Touch which I rarely use for music-on-the-move since the battery doesn't last more than a day. It is now in retirement and is mainly used for checking emails or the net on wifi around the house where there is a power socket in easy reach!

Brand new Sony Walkman E464 which I absolutely love. This is my new primary player. Battery life is great and excellent sound quality which I am very pleased with. Amazing player!

The Philips GoGear which is my ultra-portable setup. It can literally go anywhere and I don't mind if it gets bashed up since it was so cheap. A nice reliable player and my backup for when the Sony is recharging etc.

Not realy, but the iPod Touch 4G has an annoying bug that when listenning to multi session podcasts, when the player is unlocked or locked, there's an annoying pause. The Classic, as well as the iPod Touch 3Gs and iPod Video don't do this. So I consider the Classic as a sprcialist in my arsenal. :)

Multi-session podcasts?

Yeah, it's when a podcast changes the album art as it progresses. One example is Denis Ruyer's Dance Explosion. (Radio 538) On all my other iPods, there was no pause of music when the players were locked/unlocked. The iPod Touch 4G is the only player I know that does this, and it replaced a defective one that did the exact same thing.

Ah, I see. I'll have to check this out for myself now, to see if mine behaves the same way.

As opposed to those prolific AC powered PMPs? ;)

IDvsEGO 09-26-2011 08:19 AM

I assume he means AA type batteries.

renno61 09-26-2011 10:12 AM

i like both aa battery and Li-ion recharge type, also i take sansa aa mp3 on holiday because its easier. At the time when i got the aigo ipids were expensive and i wanted drag and drop.

Confispect 09-26-2011 11:25 AM

renno61 09-26-2011 12:54 PM

mamamia88 09-27-2011 03:17 PM

I have 3 a clip+ which i use day to day, sony walkman s545 which is only good for music and since I listen to both podcasts and music I don't use it often, and an old archos 2 which i don't use at all because the ui sucks. honestly i don't see the need to have multiple mp3 players because i'm not going to carry around 3. i would rather invest my money into better earphones. i think right now the little clip+ is perfect for me
