There was a fix posted on the rockbox front page about removing something from the USB functions that wasn't supposed to be there. Try the build I just posted to see if that keeps everything OK.

Sorry for not compiling a new build for a little while I have been training for a new job. I have just posted a new build....enjoy

Mods can you please sticky this thread like the F-Series build thread?

Hey guys. This my first post here. I just bought a Gigabeat S specifically to have Rockbox installed on it.

Is there a way to dual boot Rockbox and the original firmware on the Gigabeat S?

jac0b 03-30-2009 05:21 PM

why would you want to dual-boot?

raymanism 03-30-2009 08:22 PM

Just like on my other 2 Rockbox DAPs (iRiver H340 and Sandisk Sansa e280), I'd like to keep the original firmware intact just in case I want to use it.

I used the original firmware on the Gigabeat S, and it's actually decent. So I'd like to have the option of booting it up if I wanted to.

You can dual-boot but you would have to compile the bootloader on your own RB doesn't provide a dual-boot firmware. I did it early in the dev of the player and I forgot where I got all the stuff from, I will look around some more for the other info but this should get you started on the right track.
