Hi David, the dongle was creatives apt-x dongles. They come in two varieties, one for iphone, ipods, ipads and a usb one for PC's and macs. BT-D1 and BT-D5 I think.

imo its the apt-x codec that gives the BT technology the best quality as I have owned other BT speakers in the past that were much hissy etc. But note, both receivers (speakers) and transmitter (dongles) need to have apt-x codec support or it wont utilise.

awhile back you posted about setting up bluetooth speakers and using a player with a bluetooth dongle. Can you tell me what kind of dongle it was? perhaps send me a link?

The iPod Classic is not rockboxable yet. Just keep up to date with the Rockbox site and check once in awhile and check the current builds,if the Classic doesn't appear there then that means it is not ready.
