Samsung U3 Review

samsung-u3-main.jpg

The Samsung U3 has been on the market for a while now, but like other small players like that it's not as easily outdated as bigger players that fight for the newest features. With the exception of adding OLED screens, players like the U3 have more or less been stagnating feature wise for the last 3 years. This means the U3 is still a very good candidate. It's pretty well equipped with an FM radio, touch buttons, recording, and integrated USB connector. Read on to see how well it does in real life

4GB Cowon iAudio Flash DAPs

cowon-logo.jpg

It looks like November won't just be about turkey and cranberry sauce this year. Crave, CNET's gadget blog, just received word that Cowon America plans to release 4GB versions of their iAudio F2, U3, and T2 digital audio players sometime next month for an undisclosed price.

Sure, it's not up to speed with Apple, SanDisk, and Creative's 8GB flash DAPs, but it's a whole lot better than the 2GB capacities that used to max out the iAudio line. And that's something to be thankful for.

MobiBLU DHH-200 Review

mobiblu-dhh-200-1.jpg

MobiBLU, the people who brought us the Cube, is now bringing us an 8GB Microdrive based portable media player. It handles MP3, WMA, OGG, WAV, JPEG, TXT, and PIX video file formats. While it doesn’t handle any of the major video file formats directly, the included transcoder will convert any video (XviD, DivX, MPEG, AVI, WMV, ect…) to the PIX video format. The video plays back on a bright 1.8” color LCD screen covered by scratch resistant plastic.

Those who like features will find that the DHH-200 packs in the necessities and some extras, such as FM radio, voice recording, line-in recording, lyric support, clock, alarm, and many others. All of this comes in a small, but not too small, form factor.

Cowon iAudio U3 Review

cowon-iaudio-u3-main.jpg

The Cowon iAudio U3 is a new breed of tiny flash based PMPs. Not only does it playback video on its 260k color 160 x 128 pixel LCD screen, it handles all of the major file formats including MP3, OGG, WMA, ASF, WAV, and even FLAC.

The U3 has a nice set of features to cover almost everyone’s needs. Cowon has even managed to squeeze line-in recording onto this small wonder. Overall I am impressed with this MP3 player as far as functionality, ease of use, and build quality. However, with these qualities and features, comes a heavier price tag and limited storage.

  • SanDisk Sansa Clip
    SanDisk Sansa Clip

The Clip has a fantastic little form factor; cheap in build quality but very rugged. The interface is simple and relatively straight forward. The features on the clip are more or less average, mostly identical to the Sansa Express. However, what earns this player a spot in Editor’s Choice is the superb sound quality; you will not find another player at this size and price that can match it. Read the full review or go ahead and buy it.

    Samsung P2

Sure, many of us are not big fans of the walled garden, but there are a lot of great things going on with the Zune- sturdy hardware, ultra easy to use user interface, and a media player that is worthy of editor’s choice. The best part of the Zune is the constant firmware and software updates virtually giving you a new device at each major refresh. • Cowon iAudio D2
    Cowon iAudio D2

The D2 is a fantastic sounding PMP with a very nice looking screen and a tone of features. One of the best features of the D2 is the SDHC slot allowing you to add another 32GB to this small wonder. The touch interface does not lend well to on the move operation, but it is not enough to keep it from being an editor’s choice. You can find usually find it at Amazon for the best price and before to check out the review.

  • Phonak Audéo PFE
    Phonak PFE

Phonak Audéo PFE offer outstanding clarity and precision; natural, dynamic mids and treble, and decent bass for a single armature in-ear phone. They handle dense, complex music very well. The PFE work well with most acoustic and some electronic music genres, but bassheads might have to look at other alternatives. They're great for sports as well, since they fit very securely.
