The Sansa View is SanDisk’s flagship flash MP3 player with the ability to playback video on its 240x320 64k color screen. What makes the Sansa View interesting is its high capacity flash memory along with memory expansion putting it in close rivalry to hard drive based players. The other thing going for the View is the “bang for the buck” factor. It may not be a high end player, but it is one of the best values on the market.

Throughout the review I many times compare the View to the e200 because it is basically an updated and improved e200- in all the good ways but some of the bad ways as well. If you are looking to upgrade your e200 or are looking for an inexpensive player with a lot of features, read on to see if the Sansa View is for you.

The new look for the Sansa View is a bit of a stretch from the original 4" PMP design shown off at last year's CES. It may disappoint Sansa fans that are looking for a large screened PMP, but it will definitely appease the e200 owners looking for an upgrade.

The new View will show off a 2.4" 320x240 pixel screen and support WMV, MPEG, h.264, and DivX video file types. On the audio side there will only be support for the basics, MP3, WAV, Audible and WMA. The player will also show off a pretty impressive 35 hours of batter life for audio and 7 hours for video.

The View will be available this fall in 8GB and 16GB sizes retailing for $150 and $200 respectively. A microSD slot will grace the side that will allow you to upgrade to a current 8GB of memory and up to 32GB in the future as these capacities are released in microSD format.

SanDisk Sansa Clip

The Clip has a fantastic little form factor; cheap in build quality but very rugged. The interface is simple and relatively straight forward. The features on the clip are more or less average, mostly identical to the Sansa Express. However, what earns this player a spot in Editor’s Choice is the superb sound quality; you will not find another player at this size and price that can match it. Cowon iAudio D2

The D2 is a fantastic sounding PMP with a very nice looking screen and a tone of features. One of the best features of the D2 is the SDHC slot allowing you to add another 32GB to this small wonder. The touch interface does not lend well to on the move operation, but it is not enough to keep it from being an editor’s choice. Phonak Audéo PFE

Phonak Audéo PFE offer outstanding clarity and precision; natural, dynamic mids and treble, and decent bass for a single armature in-ear phone. They handle dense, complex music very well. The PFE work well with most acoustic and some electronic music genres, but bassheads might have to look at other alternatives. They're great for sports as well, since they fit very securely.
