*runs to sell ipod touch*

ipk2638 on April 10, 2009 9:25 PM

I just want a Custom EQ in my Zune and I'll sold...

Dioxinis on April 10, 2009 9:35 PM

Well for one no more mandatory zune software D: but if this thing plays 720p mkv and divx without lag i'm sold as long as it has decent battery life

Zero on April 10, 2009 9:49 PM

If this holds the 80 gb of my zune, and has all the features of my ipod touch, i might just sell both depending on how great it is, but i need to see a review first.

electron on April 10, 2009 10:02 PM

gimme a custom EQ and a good web browser, and you probably will have a very happy customer!!!

Joseph on April 10, 2009 10:14 PM

If this thing has capacitative screen and web browser, I'm sold. If it lacks either, no buy.

Jeff on April 10, 2009 10:55 PM

Looks great if it's real. I hope it's a bit smaller than the Touch, cheaper, and has a respectable touch screen. And the same excellent SQ of course.

Clockworthy on April 10, 2009 11:00 PM

Let's see if it's real, some more pictures, information...THEN I can pawn off my 30 GB one.

Narg on April 10, 2009 11:46 PM

At least the Zune software is 10 times better than iTunes. Though the Zune marketplacee is the worst. That's OK, because I only rip CD's and refuse to buy digitally.

Steve on April 11, 2009 2:11 AM

Give me a hard drive that matches the Archos 5 and I'm sold. I'm not holding my breath tho.

dragnandy on April 11, 2009 2:33 AM

ive always supported zunes and its nice to see they are still making large improvements on it.

Max on April 11, 2009 2:39 AM

This better put a dent into iPod I hate going around my school being one of the only kids with a zune. Everyone acts like they're shit..well now guess what's going to look like shit! THE iPOD TOUCH!

The DarkSide on April 11, 2009 3:15 AM

If they actually DO put an eq on board, as well as improve the battery life, I'm in!!!! I will admit, it does look like a REAL competitor to the new players that have been/will be released. Come on M$, take my money!!!!

Nic on April 11, 2009 1:15 PM

My wish list would include:
1) MSC/MTP
2) 80GB+
3) File/Folder Browsing

I will NEVER buy a player that does not have these three features, I don't care how slick it looks.

Max on April 11, 2009 1:20 PM

why do all iPod freaks think that if another MP3 player has a touch screen they're copying the touch?

ITS CALLED INNOVATION!

Zune's taking what the touch lags (which is a lot) and fixing it up to make it their own...DOES THAT LOOK ANYTHING LIKE A TOUCH!? NO! a touch screen has no buttons...so DUH it's going to have a sreen like any other touch product! Zune is starting to catch up and iPod fans know it...get ready because 2009/2010 is going to be Zunes year

Anderson on April 11, 2009 6:22 PM

if it's HD they better put movies in the marketplace

Dan on April 11, 2009 6:32 PM

I'm hoping for a OLED screen that can handle HD! A good web browser is on my wishlist too. I just hope its good because Zune is so far behind.

Jeff on April 11, 2009 7:07 PM

Looks like the wife will be getting my Gears of War 2, 120gb!

ElSuperBeasto on April 11, 2009 9:01 PM

I'm hoping it'll have oled and be a 64gb flash, or even better, a 128gb. That'll probably send the rest of the flash based PMP developers scrambling to finally give us more than only 32gb's.

milkman844 on April 12, 2009 12:35 PM

If they have any high capacity flash, it'll be ridiculously expensive. They should stick with an HDD, so you can actually put more than 2 movies on a pmp.

All zunes already have wifi, so a browser would be nice. Hopefully it'll also have an oled, and a better price than the ipod touch.

originalle on April 12, 2009 10:51 PM

is it really smart to have so much speculation over a drawing?

lol even still i'm very intrigued. i look forward to seeing a comment from Microsoft.

ascariss on April 12, 2009 10:53 PM

if it has 64 gigs, then it will be rather expensive, easily more than 400, close to 500.

oled would be good, just like the x series, but then price could also go up.

it will be touchscreen, the middle button is either to access some menu or return to home screen.

capacities will be 16 and 32 gig probably.

I am curious if hte HD moniker is regarding its ability to play HD files (720p) or a resolution of 720?

PowerTorsk on April 13, 2009 7:22 AM

Why, Microsoft, WHY have you still not made a huga campain and boosted Zune into the Norwegian market! We ARE powerfull buyers, and we DO have the money!

I want this thing so bad, it makes me sick! If the screen is as awkwardly bad as the iPod Touch screen is, I'm not too sure though. I need a PMP with a web browser (smoother than that of the Archos 5, lol), WMA lossless support AND a good screen. I guess I could live through some converting to the format support which will undoubtfully be limited...

randominality on April 13, 2009 3:00 PM

After finding out the sony X-serires player is not gonna support movies larger than 320x240 this is my new hope!
Common M$ i need a decent small(ish) player with a big(ish) screen.

Chaps on April 13, 2009 10:23 PM

As long as it goes truly international.. I'm not really fussed if it is the same Zune in a new suit...

user2 on April 15, 2009 2:57 PM

if that thing is real, it needs a new UI.

Texts stacked under each other has become pretty old.

Zero on April 15, 2009 4:44 PM

ok, this new photo makes it look like a slimed down version of the iPhone 2 gen, with the black bar on the bottom, but as with before this pic, if it can hold more than my zune, and can do more than my iPod touch, then ill sell both of those and buy this one.

ahmad on April 15, 2009 5:44 PM

Specs posted on Engadget
http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/15/another-zunehd-render-surfaces-fanboy-specs-too/

multi-touch capacitive OLED screen in a 16:9 aspect ratio

3D Xbox game support (whatever that is)

playback of "HD media" available from Zune Marketplace

TV-out from what looks like a mini-HDMI port on the left-side

HD Radio

choice of 16GB or 32GB of storage (not a lot for HD content)

wireless sync

multi-touch "browser" of the Internet-type, presumably (so why nothing shown on the main menu in the image above?)

launches this Fall, "around September" in the US, Canada, UK, France and possibly other European countries.

likely to be a "showcase" for Windows Mobile 7 when released (Huh? WinMo7 won't be out until 2010. Perhaps they mean early WinMo7 betas expected in November?)

Watson on April 15, 2009 7:53 PM

Does the logo on the back of the device photoshopped to anyone else? To me, it looks off centered and unnatural. Not that I know much about that sort of thing...

rt on April 15, 2009 8:07 PM

Eh, it looks like a rippoff of the touch diamond2 to me. They look exactly the same except the touch diamond2 has 3 more buttons. Also their are better mp3 players that are cheaper than the zune and dont lock me into windows.

milkman844 on April 15, 2009 8:34 PM

I've read that in addition to the 16 and 32 GB flash, there'll also be a 120 GB HDD, which is awesome, seeing as you can actually hold a decent amount of content.

Bingzhong on April 16, 2009 4:09 AM

Anyone else got horny after seeing this?

jacobdrj on April 17, 2009 3:28 AM

The HD radio alone would make this the best PMP on the market. Add some features, like HDMI, and you are looking at a real all around device that would supplant all my others.

But: Does it have expandable memory via SDXC? Does it have HD Radio recording? Does it have voice recording?

Unfortunately, those are make or-break features to me as well...

Godzilla on April 18, 2009 4:45 PM

A good eq, a decent web browser, and able to download internet content, then it would be awsome! a longer battery life than the itouch!, and some awome applications! .. then I would be sold!

Michael Jablonski on April 23, 2009 8:43 AM

I was planning on buying a 120gb zune next thursday, but I may have to wait to see what comes of this. I'm looking forward to seeing how it handles the internet. Hopefully it will allow for downloadable content as well as a decent keyboard for typing on if it is in fact internet browser friendly.

George on May 5, 2009 12:45 AM

oh god i would kill, or worse, push people out of the way to get something as kick ass as that oooooooh please be real >.

steveballmer on July 11, 2009 8:17 AM

Thank you guys for this invaluable service!

cprince10 on July 14, 2009 10:23 PM

face it guys the only thing that makes the ipod "better" than the zune hd is the apps.but if ur a true zune freak like myself u wont give a crap

Frugal Sam on August 14, 2009 1:30 AM

I heard a rumor about software crashes. Anyone know how true that is ?

Calcium on August 17, 2009 7:33 PM

abi Editor's Choice
  • SanDisk Sansa Clip
    SanDisk Sansa Clip

The Clip has a fantastic little form factor; cheap in build quality but very rugged. The interface is simple and relatively straight forward. The features on the clip are more or less average, mostly identical to the Sansa Express. However, what earns this player a spot in Editor’s Choice is the superb sound quality; you will not find another player at this size and price that can match it. Read the full review or go ahead and buy it.

  • Samsung P3
    Samsung P2

The Samsung P2 was a success and the P3 is a very welcome and substantial update. Samsung has paid close attention to users on P2 issues and made great strides in addressing and improving most of them. The best feature of the P3 is its native video support. Most content you thow at it will playback without conversion on the great looking screen. Stop by the Samsung P3 forums for more details or check out our indepth P3 review.

  • Microsoft Zune 120
    Samsung P2

Sure, many of us are not big fans of the walled garden, but there are a lot of great things going on with the Zune- sturdy hardware, ultra easy to use user interface, and a media player that is worthy of editor’s choice. The best part of the Zune is the constant firmware and software updates virtually giving you a new device at each major refresh. You can check out the latest Zune 120 & 16 review or stop by our Zune forums for the latest.

  • Cowon iAudio D2
    Cowon iAudio D2

The D2 is a fantastic sounding PMP with a very nice looking screen and a tone of features. One of the best features of the D2 is the SDHC slot allowing you to add another 32GB to this small wonder. The touch interface does not lend well to on the move operation, but it is not enough to keep it from being an editor’s choice. You can find usually find it at Amazon for the best price and before to check out the review.

  • Phonak Audéo PFE
    Phonak PFE

Phonak Audéo PFE offer outstanding clarity and precision; natural, dynamic mids and treble, and decent bass for a single armature in-ear phone. They handle dense, complex music very well. The PFE work well with most acoustic and some electronic music genres, but bassheads might have to look at other alternatives. They're great for sports as well, since they fit very securely. Check out our review.
