Winner Announced: SanDisk Sansa Fuze + 4GB Mobile Ultra microSD Card

fuze-contest.jpg

Congratulations to Kim. It looks like her search is over and she will be a proud new owner of a Silver Fuze and a high speed microSD card. Thank you all for joining the fun and making one killer comment thread. I actually read though them all and many were quite amusing. Stay tuned for more giveaways and more of the best mp3 player reviews on the net. Accept no substitutes! ;)

Win a SanDisk Sansa Fuze + 4GB Mobile Ultra microSD Card Sharing the same great sound quality as the Sansa Clip, the Sansa Fuze has one big advantage with an included microSD memory slot. This is a nice way to upgrade your to a higher capacity since the microSD card seamlessly integrates into the main memory.

MicroSD has become a standard in expandable memory for cell phones. Another nice use for the memory card would be to swap it between your player and you mobile phone. When I’m away from a computer one thing I do for instance is use my Nokia e71 to download podcasts and music, then swap the memory card to my Fuze. Sure I could use the phone to listen to but it needs a headphone adapter and sound terrible compared to the Fuze.

It’s also a cheap add on. Last I checked SanDisk’s microSD in 8GB was around $30 on Amzaon. Note that we are giving away the Mobile Ultra version which I tested to be about twice as fast as the regular version of SanDisk’s microSD. This works a bit better if you are going to use it in a phone.

Enough chit chat, how do I win this lovely pair?

Just comment once below (multiple entries will be disqualified) and we will pick a comment at random at the end of the day Wednesday. Good luck!

Of course, I'm signing up for this. I've been looking at getting a Fuze for a while now, but it's just above my preferred price. I like the idea of having a flash player of some decent quality, and I can at least hope for Rockbox to get on to it.

Antoine on August 18, 2008 9:46 AM

I'm tired of using my old CD player. I have no MP3 player since the death of my (beautiful) Zen Vision-M, so I'd love to give the Sansa Fuze a try ^^

DChoi on August 18, 2008 9:52 AM

I had a 32Gb Sansa View but for some reason the battery life was terrible - about 7 or 8 hours. I'll stick to my old E260 for now (unless I win one of these!)

nywytboy68 on August 18, 2008 9:53 AM

Woo-Hoo!!! Count me IN baby!!!

JeffroDigital on August 18, 2008 9:53 AM

Oh yea, gotta comment on this! I've been wanting one of these. Looks like a great player and should be a signifigant upgrade over my c250. Good luck to everyone but hopefully I win!!!

shane on August 18, 2008 9:53 AM

My samsung P2 has broken on me 4 times already, and a new player would be awsome, especially for my 7km trek each day for school.

TonyT on August 18, 2008 9:56 AM

Sansa Fuze with the 4gb card? It sounds like a fantastic upgrade to my current Ipod shuffle. Wouldn't mind putting Itunes aside for a while.

gahikr on August 18, 2008 9:58 AM

Love the site. So far I've stuck with iRiver and Creative and have been very happy with both brands. Would love to add a Sansa to my collection. I've heard great things about the sound quality from the latest Sansas.

helpme123 on August 18, 2008 10:00 AM

thanks for the contest enzoten!

Fogg on August 18, 2008 10:01 AM

Very nice contest, indeed. I've never had the pleasure of a Sansa player, and owning a ZEN integration of SD is a much needed feature.

Girish on August 18, 2008 10:02 AM

Great combo! Is the microSD card fully integrated into the Fuze or is it like the Creative ones where is is separate?

Kevin on August 18, 2008 10:08 AM

I'm really tired of trying to use my phone as a media player - it's just an LG 8550 (Chocolate 2) and it works alright most of the time, but the sound and media management is junk. I need a dedicated media player and I love Sandisk's stuff.

InsomniacGeek on August 18, 2008 10:10 AM

Yes, anything but an iPod, and this will certainly be good enough.

Mike M. on August 18, 2008 10:11 AM

The Sansa Clip has amazing sound quality, and you say this is equal, thats great!

whatever on August 18, 2008 10:12 AM

I have Sansa Clip, and i want Fuze. Clip really sounds great.

Lerch on August 18, 2008 10:13 AM

Hooray, please enter me in the contest. Question though...it's all about bookmarking. Can the Fuze play AND BOOKMARK files from Audible as well as protected .WMV from Netlibrary and Overdrive? And mp3 podcasts, for that matter?

My Treo with PTunes is the only player I've seen so far that will save bookmarks for all of those formats; makes it the best spoken word player I've found.

bdb51 on August 18, 2008 10:13 AM

I'm a big fan of the sansa mp3 players and I've always wanted a Sansa Fuze to replace my Sansa e260R, which got stolen.

NOWZ on August 18, 2008 10:15 AM

My mp3-player is broken, it was an old iriver H10 with 20 gb of storage. So about this Sansa FUZE I would be really happy. If not I'm still waiting for an official anouncement for the COWON D3.

LuckyStrike on August 18, 2008 10:17 AM

iTunes + iPod = iBarf

Please sign me up for winning this Fuze.

bluesman on August 18, 2008 10:17 AM

Awesome promotion, great website!

cristiano007 on August 18, 2008 10:18 AM

Greetings from Venezuela! I have a Sansa Clip 1 GB which I use with an old pair of Sennheiser M500s. It's a killer combo, nice value, very portable and awesome sound. But I miss the video feature sometimes, to hide away and see old black and white movies that my wife hates. So PLEEEEEASE....(OK, I know is random)

Rick Spoketire on August 18, 2008 10:21 AM

What is the black object with a usb connector near the top right corner of the box? Does it go with the SD card?

rospaya on August 18, 2008 10:21 AM

Nokia E71 is a great choice for a phone, the only thing I miss is having a touchscreen.

Punslayer on August 18, 2008 10:25 AM

I really like the idea of a player with a microSD slot. My wife has a bunch of cards to use with her phone and this could be a nice companion.

Chris H on August 18, 2008 10:26 AM

Hooray! Good luck to everybody!

Fred B on August 18, 2008 10:27 AM

joe yannotti on August 18, 2008 10:27 AM

Lucky Luciano on August 18, 2008 10:27 AM

I wanted to by a Sansa Fuze but it's not available in my country, just the Clip. My birthday is coming on 30th so I would love a present for you. :P

Mauricio Fallas on August 18, 2008 10:28 AM

Well, I couldn't possibly resist to this chance. Getting tired of my Sony Ericsson Walkman phone 2GB top capacity.

Rick: The black object is a card reader. It basically transforms your MicroSD Card into a USB ThumbDrive.

Thanks ABI!

Timberg on August 18, 2008 10:30 AM

It's about time I finally left a comment here. Thanks for filling the much needed gap in MP3 player-oriented blogs! Love the reviews, love the photos, love the opinions. And especially love the prospect of a free Fuze. If it's anything like the Clip, I can understand why everyone likes it so much.

HuBu on August 18, 2008 10:31 AM

This would be great since my wife has taken hold of my 8 gb Fuze.

Joris on August 18, 2008 10:32 AM

Seems to me a nice player. I have a sony nw-hd5 but it had its best time so now i'm looking for a new one. This player seems to be a very nice alternative.

Al Pierce on August 18, 2008 10:34 AM

Yeah, sign me up! Kind of sad; I read this site every day but I've never had an ipod or 'anything but'. I'm a very late adopter, but I think I'm ready for this Fuze. --Thanks ABI

musichound on August 18, 2008 10:34 AM

I know there is no use commenting here because I never win anything. It's just my nature that I am never selected. Regardless, thank you very much for this contest!

Miehas on August 18, 2008 10:35 AM

I would love to update to this unit. Currently I still use a creative MUvo. it is only 256m and not upgradable.

Dunhill on August 18, 2008 10:36 AM

Never tried a SanDisk player before, maybe I'm missing out, but I won't if I win! haha

Dixalnator on August 18, 2008 10:37 AM

I love SanDisk. I have owned only two of old versions and they worked great! My brother has a Fuze and it is amazing. It is small and has huge storage capacity!
I hope I win!

i'm getting tired with my meizu m6.. stuttering music is the most annoying problem but meizu is not going to solve it. i'm planning to buy a new mp3 player but as a university student, my budget is quite small. sansa fuze is one of my options so i'll be more than happy if i can save some money by winning this contest.

Iain on August 18, 2008 10:46 AM

Just commenting seems to me to be a ridiculously simple way of entering. So ridiculously simple that I just can't help myself, in fact.

Thanks for running the pleasingly trivial contest, guys.

Justin on August 18, 2008 11:11 AM

I love SanDisk products. My wife has a Clip and absolutely loves it. I'd love to have a Fuze!

n0ppw on August 18, 2008 11:12 AM

The wife and I each have e200 series Sansas (an 8GB and a 2GB). Our son just broke his old SanDisk 256MB DAP and "needs" a new one. We'd rather pass down one we have and the Fuze would make a great "top-of-the-heap" player for us!

Jessica on August 18, 2008 11:15 AM

I want I want! My ipod nano disappeared last Winter which I was happy about cuz I didn't like it.. but now I have nothing and it's been 8 hard months.. 3 hours of public transportation a day is a killer with mediocre replacements..

Peter on August 18, 2008 11:15 AM

Thank goodness! This would make a excellent replacement for my departed ZVM and the generic MP3 player I've been forced to use in its absence.

zaf on August 18, 2008 11:17 AM

SanDisk ftw...I think SanDisk really have the design spot on, the features are top notch and the expandable memory just a great bonus.

now for the sucking up time (hehe)

dr13zehn on August 18, 2008 11:27 AM

I love the Fuze. It's like, looks good and sounds fantastic. I would very much enjoy this puppy.

Paul on August 18, 2008 11:28 AM

(potential triple post with edited content, but the first posts were submitted over 30 minutes ago!)
Will the Fuze ever get a sleep timer? I have passed my eternally stuck in random play Insignia to my wife (who only wants a randomly playing set of songs!) and bought a Clip. I did not like the controls and returned it [side note, CostCo has the 4gig clips for $50]. I just picked up a View but have not been able to find any setting for sleep timer. Not a massive thing but I like it.

RandomSF on August 18, 2008 11:29 AM

I was totally astounded to see you are giving away rigs in exchange for just a comment.
Here in Bulgaria we are short on Sansa players import in general but it seems nobody even thought of the great Fuze... This is my chance to be the pioneer of using the Fuze in my country. :)

I've been hitting this site frequently after my beloved Archos Jukebox Recorder finally bit the dust, and it helped me decide on my 8GB Creative Zen, despite the fact that the SD doesn't integrate into the library. So I'm commenting here, in hopes that I can win a Sanza that does integrate!

Art13 on August 18, 2008 11:39 AM

funny, i was just thinking of getting fuze or sony a816, maybe i get lucky and won't need to buy one. p.s first ever comment on this site.

Zubrik on August 18, 2008 11:40 AM

Yay, my wife seriously needs one of these so she stops using mine :)

Larry Harrison on August 18, 2008 11:41 AM

Phone beeps periodically without need, draining battery. Transferred to warranty.

The memory card expansion is a huge advantage vs the Clip, since I have about 6G loaded on my Sansa e280 (v1, Rockbox'd, 8G internal + 8G SDHC = 16G) I would need more than the baseline.

The lack of user-replaceable battery is unfortuante, though, not sure why SanDisk is doing this. My Sansa e280 has a user-replaceable battery, as should all MP3 players.

But if I win one, I sure won't complain.

Dominic on August 18, 2008 11:42 AM

This website is the ultimate reference any digital player but iPod. Reviews and comments helped me to choose a fantastic SanDisk Sansa e200 and an excellent SanDisk Sansa c100 for my girlfriend.

Anyways the I've read the reviews on the Fuze and it sounds like an awesome player for the price. If i ever get the chance to buy an mp3 player, the fuze will most cerntenly be in my list.

NoComp on August 18, 2008 2:10 PM

The Fuze is surely one of the better small-sized DAP's out there atm - with stellar sound-quality!? So why not give it a try? ;)

shoot2score67 on August 18, 2008 2:13 PM

ABI FTW! Great stuff. Favorite site. Like the forums and your reviews. Keep it up.
Fuze is nice - like the expansion and size. Wish Sandisk would update the interface though.

Andy Pastuszak on August 18, 2008 2:35 PM

Gerard Boudreau on August 18, 2008 2:35 PM

Thank you for this great contest. Hope the new firmware
with .ogg support is coming soon, and why not some new skins for the Fuze?
And by the way, for me, battery non-replaceable is a bad idea for quality mp3 players.

´caba on August 18, 2008 2:37 PM

Thank you hope i take the chance

Mark on August 18, 2008 2:41 PM

Yeah, me too.

I just ordered a 4gb clip to replace my beloved insignia so why not keep going with the sansa line. Thanks for all the reviews.

Damien on August 18, 2008 3:29 PM

Hi Grahm,
There are 3 reasons why I would like this Fuze:
1)I have a Clip but it is full.
2)Micro SD is so diddy that I could store the cards in my nostrils.
3)The silver colour would perfectly match my one piece silver latex jumpsuit that I wear jogging before work.
Yours hoping..,
Damien

Wayne on August 18, 2008 3:33 PM

I just want something with more battery life than my zen stone plus. :P

Paul Le on August 18, 2008 3:36 PM

Ive always wanted a Fuze, something I can bring along to my adventures, something I wouldnt dare do with my other players.

Octavio Martin on August 18, 2008 3:38 PM

Though I have a rockboxed e280, I've advised anyone who'd listen - that the Sansa Fuze 8gb is the best value in DAPs. The Fuze has the outstanding sound quality of the clip, has easy album art, microsdhc expansion and can do line out via a dock.

I've been trying to convince myself that I don't need it - especially with my finances - so it would be AWESOME to win one.

robinyount67 on August 18, 2008 3:39 PM

Fay is coming for us! I think that means you should pick me! Thanks for the contest.

Pedro on August 18, 2008 3:39 PM

My old e250 is clamoring for a substitute!

xD

Jordan on August 18, 2008 3:41 PM

Anythingbutipod.com is great for Mp3 Players, but it has no information on the price of rice in China.

Cool contest.

Commander Nacho on August 18, 2008 3:47 PM

I will win this - thats fo' sho' ;D.

gabe565 on August 18, 2008 3:49 PM

QBoi on August 18, 2008 3:50 PM

My brother needs a Fuze to replace his e280 :) He gets pretty jealous whenever I whip out my Zen or Cowon D2.

This would be sweet!

chris on August 18, 2008 3:52 PM

This would be sweet!

GameTraveler on August 18, 2008 3:56 PM

Would love to get one, although I have a sneaking suspicion that my daughter will somehow find it, learn how to use it better than I can, and claim it as hers! At that point, winning a Fuze would be priceless for the peace of mind I'd get! :)

Javier on August 18, 2008 3:58 PM

I'd love to get a Sansa Fuze. I own a Sansa Express (which was discontinued almost as soon as it came out), and I'm very pleased. I'm very intrigued by the Fuze since reading about it in this blog.

shenyue on August 18, 2008 3:59 PM

Jim on August 18, 2008 4:13 PM

LOL @ Roman ^^^^

I think he deserves the Fuze based on his comedic(sp?) re-penning of an good old American standbye!

Any news about the new fw. for the Fuze?

tomker on August 18, 2008 4:43 PM

Even if I won I wouldn't believe it. But without trying it would be 100%.
a small comment from me about digital multimedia players with SD/microSD slots - I'm really happy that there is a prediction that in the future there will be players with no bulit-in memory but only using cards. Sandisk said it, right? No wonder - they produce memory cards. But with their new players on higher level I'm really looking forward to this solution.

Dandan on August 18, 2008 4:54 PM

Looks like a great player. I hope I win!

Phygerion on August 18, 2008 5:13 PM

Fuze the soul to the ambient surroundings of nature. Listen to the very beat of Terra's heart, and the melodies that all of us attribute to. Forget not that we are all entwined, and that a balance must be struck. I just hope that balance includes me getting one o' dem Fuzes.

Peach on August 18, 2008 5:15 PM

Sweet! I'm about to buy a Fuze anyway...I guess I can wait two days to see.

cyberstoic on August 18, 2008 5:52 PM

I have a sansa clip 2 gig. The sound is impressive and the battery life is very good. I really like that the clip now supports my ogg files.

Does the Fuze support ogg files as well? Does anyone know if sandisk plans to add FLAC support as well in a future update?

Thanks!

JanRuzinsky on August 18, 2008 5:53 PM

Will this be my new player?

Hope so!!!!

Brian on August 18, 2008 5:57 PM

This would be totally awesome to win! Especially since I'm still stuck with an iPod! I've had a Nano for a year and a half now and it's really getting boring! I've been checking back at this site pretty regularly to see what's new on the mp3 front and it's exciting to follow the news on ABI! Thanks for being awesome and I hope I win this thing so I'm not stuck with my crappy iPod Nano anymore! :)

;)

And I own a Creative Zen 16, a sansa e250r (rockboxed), e280 (rockboxed), and about 20 smaller sandsisks... does this redeem me?
