Ugliest MP3 Player EVER.

mp3dog.jpg

China is not exactly the design capitol of the world, so If it happens to look decent, they probably ripped it off from someone else. But nothing ever looked quite as ugly as the new "CJ7 Dog Doll MP3 Player with Built-in Speakers". How this can be described as a "cute dog doll outfit" is beyond me as it looks like the result of a Pokemon interacting with radioactive waste.

The thing has 1GB internal memory, built in speaker and charges through USB. The USB port is very conveniently placed in the dog's butt and the headphone jack is located in the front. It might be worth the $18.67 shipped just as a conversational starter, after all how many times have you seen a table with a plastic dog and a USB plug up it's butt playing "I will survive"?

MUHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Chowdder on June 17, 2008 6:31 PM

You know if it's really designed to look like a dog, then why didn't they bother to cover the entire thing with fur? At least it'll look (a bit) better.

Polar on June 17, 2008 7:34 PM

It's not really a dog but an alien character from a Hong Kong movie (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CJ7)

But that's still no excuse for having the USB plug where it is.

ClieOS on June 17, 2008 9:23 PM

If you watched that movie before, than the placement of the USB port, though not the most correct thing to do, does actually coincide with the movie.

RedSky on June 17, 2008 10:41 PM

It's like they purposely thought of ways they could get this to make tech news.

ubrikkean on June 17, 2008 11:34 PM

Is that a microphone above the USB port?

MrFobber on June 18, 2008 2:57 AM

I believe the player's design is based on Stephen Chow's new movie, "CJ7" I have always suspected that they are going to make somethings from the movie, but I had never expected that they are going to make a MP3 player out of it...

anyways the Wikipedia link for the movie page is here

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CJ7

Syndrome on June 18, 2008 3:50 AM

I don't think thats a mic... I'd say its the reset hole. :D Love the I will survive comment. Keep up the awesome work Enzo.

panasonikku_ho on June 18, 2008 3:57 AM

It's so ugly that it's actually kinda cute... now if it only comes in 8gb...

jack on June 18, 2008 11:40 AM

i love all of these clueless postings including the parent post. the mp3 player is from the movie CJ7. go watch the movie and you will understand what it is and no it isn't a "dog".

ubrikkean on June 18, 2008 10:17 PM

Since it seems that most people don't know from where it is, it will remain ridiculously ugly in our minds, regardless of the source.

Fred on June 19, 2008 11:22 AM

You guy's are no fun anymore.

Tommie B. on June 19, 2008 10:30 PM

This mp3 player is based on a new film from the creator of Kung-fu Hussle and Shoalin Soccer.

LambdaCalculus379 on June 23, 2008 1:29 PM

This is the silliest looking MP3 player I've ever seen!

Terrence on June 30, 2008 6:41 PM

Ash on July 1, 2008 1:48 AM

Tom.J on July 1, 2008 3:05 AM

ice on July 19, 2008 9:40 AM

it's from a movie made by Stephen Chow

claudia on December 27, 2008 12:15 AM

What an strange mp3, i mean that's not a dog, it looks more like gremlin....

Senseless Sensation on February 15, 2009 2:50 AM

I saw Kung-fu Hustle and Shoalin Soccer. Both of which were unbearably stupid. Found it hard to finish watching them... I imagine CJ7 would be no different if it was made by the same idiot.

Arnold on February 19, 2009 1:37 AM

It reminds me the Halle Berry starrer Catwoman. It am in doubt which is more ugly Catwoman or CatMP3!

    SanDisk Sansa Clip

The Clip has a fantastic little form factor; cheap in build quality but very rugged. The interface is simple and relatively straight forward. The features on the clip are more or less average, mostly identical to the Sansa Express. However, what earns this player a spot in Editor’s Choice is the superb sound quality; you will not find another player at this size and price that can match it. Read the full review or go ahead and buy it.

  • Cowon iAudio D2
    Cowon iAudio D2

The D2 is a fantastic sounding PMP with a very nice looking screen and a tone of features. One of the best features of the D2 is the SDHC slot allowing you to add another 32GB to this small wonder. The touch interface does not lend well to on the move operation, but it is not enough to keep it from being an editor’s choice. You can find usually find it at Amazon for the best price and before to check out the review.

  • Phonak Audéo PFE
    Phonak PFE

Phonak Audéo PFE offer outstanding clarity and precision; natural, dynamic mids and treble, and decent bass for a single armature in-ear phone. They handle dense, complex music very well. The PFE work well with most acoustic and some electronic music genres, but bassheads might have to look at other alternatives. They're great for sports as well, since they fit very securely.
