Samsung P2 Going 16GB

p2-16gb.jpg

The Samsung YP-P2 is one of the most popular players these days, with a wide range of features including touch screen, an excellent widescreen, and Bluetooth. The only thing that has been holding it down is the capacity, as so far it's only been available in 2, 4 and 8GB. Until now.

True to their word, the 16GB Samsung P2 is now on it's way. That should be welcomed news for those who couldn't make due with 8GB. The 16GB version will launch in Korea in a few weeks and hopefully the rest of the world will follow shortly. No word yet if there will be a 32GB, but knowing Samsung that is still way into the future.

Update: A member of Dapreview found the 16GB P2 on BestBuy Canada

it about time, samsung. maybe next year well see a 32gb player...

nywytboy68 on March 18, 2008 2:09 PM

Ohhhhhhhh YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS I'ma' gonna try dis' 1 as I've been waiting sooooooooo long for it. If the Zen sounds decent, and the sony A81X & S61X series sound fantastic, and this is SUPPOSED to be between the 2 - then I think I've been holding out long enough. I'm going to try the P2 and stay clear of the Touch and if all goes well finally find a player on the mid-ground. Especially since I prefer a 3" screen to a 2.4". Thank You BeeGeeBus!!!

iff2mastamatt on March 18, 2008 5:11 PM

Where's the cradle? I have an 8GB P2, but still want the craddle!

dragnandy on March 18, 2008 7:00 PM

man!! this should have came out sooner! i would rather have this than a 16gb zen. well, how much is this thing going to cost though? the 8gb is already pretty expensive. i think the p2 would be a HUGE winner if it had an integrated SD expansion slot =[

nywytboy68 on March 18, 2008 7:04 PM

The cradle was only a rumor. There is a video of an external speaker on youtube. Think it's a third party product though. Heres the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfQr7ptTUsA&feature=related

wu-tangsnow on March 18, 2008 11:53 PM

It's not third party. They sell it on the Samsung website. Korean forums predict it will be a little less than $340 US.

wu-tangsnow on March 18, 2008 11:54 PM

Nevermind about those speakers. I thought you meant the bluetooth ones. Yeah, those speakers are third party.

Hristo on March 19, 2008 3:02 PM

Are you talking about a mere speakers?
I found something interesting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4spLisKv-kQ It's a great memory expansion gadget. Is it on sale and how much does it cost?

Hristo on March 19, 2008 3:12 PM

My bad. I haven't noticed the uploader's comment: ***This has been confirmed fake.*** Still, something like that would be appreciated.

Arash on March 19, 2008 7:04 PM

I Have it in my pocket Know !!

I've buy it for my friend yesterday . I still have my 8Gb but I'm gonna upgrade !!

nywytboy68 on March 19, 2008 7:25 PM

@Arash - if this is available how about providing a link so that other people can get their hands on it? It would certainly cause a large number of us to cross on over to the Samsung Side (Luke,. your ADOPTED Luke - LOL)

o on March 20, 2008 8:59 AM

I work at a best buy in canada and we actually got it in stock last night...pretty neat!

wu-tangsnow on March 20, 2008 9:55 PM

So If I bought it from Canada's Bestbuy online(I'm From Minnesota) how much extra would I have to pay? Would I have to pay Canadian taxes? US Taxes?

Arash on March 21, 2008 5:49 PM

to "nywytboy68" :
Unfortunately , I've bought it in one of Samsung's Gallery/Shop , so I have no Link for you :-( .

nywytboy68 on March 22, 2008 12:25 PM

@Arash - no problem. The comment was more to myself then anyone else and I'm sorry if you thought it was directed @you (I apologize)

nywytboy68 on March 22, 2008 12:48 PM

pdiggitydogg on March 27, 2008 10:09 AM

Lithium on March 27, 2008 8:38 PM

guys dont buy from bestbuy canada the 16 GB is a fake the did a typo on the title read the specs it says total memory 4 GB so dont get ripped off buying the 4gb from ebst buy canada!

nywytboy68 on March 29, 2008 2:14 PM

@Lithium - Bestbuy Ca. just never bothered to update the specs, they can't sell you a 4gb for that price as they would be sued out the buns!!! Besides, if you live in the US just wait an let it come out here as the price (I hope ) should be a little lower making it a better prospect.

wu-tangsnow on April 4, 2008 1:36 PM

Geez, It's taking a little while to get here, isn't it?

  • SanDisk Sansa Clip
    SanDisk Sansa Clip

The Clip has a fantastic little form factor; cheap in build quality but very rugged. The interface is simple and relatively straight forward. The features on the clip are more or less average, mostly identical to the Sansa Express. However, what earns this player a spot in Editor’s Choice is the superb sound quality; you will not find another player at this size and price that can match it. Read the full review or go ahead and buy it.

  • Samsung P3
    Samsung P2

The Samsung P2 was a success and the P3 is a very welcome and substantial update. Samsung P2

Sure, many of us are not big fans of the walled garden, but there are a lot of great things going on with the Zune- sturdy hardware, ultra easy to use user interface, and a media player that is worthy of editor’s choice. The best part of the Zune is the constant firmware and software updates virtually giving you a new device at each major refresh. • Cowon iAudio D2
    Cowon iAudio D2

The D2 is a fantastic sounding PMP with a very nice looking screen and a tone of features. One of the best features of the D2 is the SDHC slot allowing you to add another 32GB to this small wonder. The touch interface does not lend well to on the move operation, but it is not enough to keep it from being an editor’s choice. You can find usually find it at Amazon for the best price and before to check out the review.

  • Phonak Audéo PFE
    Phonak PFE

Phonak Audéo PFE offer outstanding clarity and precision; natural, dynamic mids and treble, and decent bass for a single armature in-ear phone. They handle dense, complex music very well. The PFE work well with most acoustic and some electronic music genres, but bassheads might have to look at other alternatives. They're great for sports as well, since they fit very securely.
