Europeans Get the 32GB Creative Zen for €400

creatiive-zen-32.jpg

Update:Not only did Europe get the 32GB versions, so did the US. Priced at $330 at the creative store. Not bad at all.

Come Monday creative will be selling a 32GB version of the Creative Zen (Nothing). It will retail for €400 and be limited to 500 units. There may not be too many people interested in a 32GB flash player at that price, but I think it’s a great accomplishment of Creative in that they are the first to maket with a 32GB player. Now just add an 32GB SDHC card and you have 64GB of solid state bliss. Now only if they can sort out that wretched SD card library integration problem (read the review). In related news they will also be selling a 2GB version for €100, but no word on when the US will see them hit the states.

Go go Cowon - where's the 32GB D2? ;)

Chris on November 30, 2007 7:49 PM

Europe only!?!? I declare shenanigans on Creative.

Alex M on November 30, 2007 8:05 PM

Still no easy sd integration?
No TV out?
Low overall volumes(such as the vision:m and w had)?

No thanks I'll go for the pilot.

It's not Europe only, the news comes from Creative Europe. They don't have info for global numbers.

Announcing.. and getting this to market are two different things. Q2 of 2008 leaves a fair amount of time for others to offer 32GB capacities.
Too expensive and unless they address the other issues that keep this from becoming a good replacement for the ZVM, I wont be buying one.
32GB flash is on the right track, but the cost is too prohibitive for what is gained.

Thank God. I for one need superior sound quality and divx support.
VERY well done Creative, I'm quite surprised.

At http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?category=213&subcategory=214&product=16999&nav=1 under storage, there is information about a 32gb zen. If that's the case, Creative will be the first to have a 32gb flash player! The 32gb is really nice to have for this christmas!

The thing I don't understand... 400 euros is almost 600 dollars, and 330 dollars is 223 euros!? Why is the price difference so big? Either way, I’m getting the 8 GB version today for only $281. It sucks being a gadget freak in my country :)

Sounds kind of scrumptious, finally a player that has me look at my Cowon D2 with thoughts of replacement. But at that price? Eh, by the time they slice that price down to 250 or something I'm probably set for life with D2 since SDHC by then might go past 32GB.

I just ordered the 2GB Zen at creative.com for only $79.99 US (less than hundred bucks even with taxes). 2GB is fine for me as I have many 1,2,4 and a couple of 8GB SD cards that I can use with it. I can't wait to get it as I have heard many good things.

The euro-price is robbery. The dollar is about 0,75 Euro. So the euro-price in dollars is about 540 USD while te retailprice in the US is 330 USD. Shame on Creative.

Natalie on February 23, 2008 7:50 PM

yeah, it's in the US. i think the lowest price is $294. yes it is expensive, but apparently it is much better than the other new MP3 players out there. it can even take iTunes!

    Samsung P2

The Samsung P2 has been gaining quite a following lately and rightfully so. If you are looking for something well designed, innovative, and feature packed; you should look into this full touch screen wonder. The Bluetooth feature set is what I find to be the most intriguing, with the ability to tether to your phone to make calls or wirelessly transfer with no restrictions to other P2s. Check out the review or stop by our ever growing P2 forums to get the latest info.

  • Toshiba Gigabeat T400
    toshiba gigabeat t400

The Gigabeat T400 is without a doubt my favorite flash player at the moment. It does have one major setback in that it only comes in a 4GB, shame on you Toshiba. What makes me love this player is it's ultra slick sexy design, very easy- just pick up and use interface, and killer sound quality that would make Cowon users envious. This player is a must buy for anyone who sports a premium set of headphones. Full review to come but you should really just buy one.

  • SanDisk Sansa Clip
    SanDisk Sansa Clip

The Clip has a fantastic little form factor; cheap in build quality but very rugged. The interface is simple and relatively straight forward. The features on the clip are more or less average, mostly identical to the Sansa Express. However, what earns this player a spot in Editor’s Choice is the superb sound quality; you will not find another player at this size and price that can match it. Read the full review or go ahead and buy it.

    Cowon iAudio D2

The D2 is a fantastic sounding PMP with a very nice looking screen and a tone of features. One of the best features of the D2 is the SDHC slot allowing you to add another 32GB to this small wonder. The touch interface does not lend well to on the move operation, but it is not enough to keep it from being an editor’s choice. You can find usually find it at Amazon for the best price and before to check out the review.

  • JAYS q-JAYS
    JAYS q-JAYS

The q-JAYS are great in ear phones. They offer excellent clarity, silky treble, realistic midrange, and a nice bass response. They're comfortable, incredibly tiny, and come with a huge selection of accessories. While they certainly are analytic phones, they're still fun to listen to. The q-JAYS respond well to EQing, and can be tweaked to fit almost anyone's sound preference. Recommended for anyone owning a good sounding player and well encoded audio files. Check out our review.
