More Zunes Arriving Soon

Microsoft-Zune2.jpg

Rumours surrounding Microsoft’s impending Zunes have accumulated to suggest that an official announcement for the new players will emerge in the next few days. Several prior leaks and pieces of information have been supported by an inside source and photos of a display at a retail store, both reiterating that a new thinner hard disk version will be accompanied by a smaller flash-based Zune.

The pictures don’t reveal an enormous transformation in design, so we will have to wait until Microsoft verifies the changes presented in their succeeding players which, if the rumours are at all accurate, we can assume will hit stores well before the Christmas shopping season.

With Apple and Microsoft both releasing new players, isn't it time Creative brought something to the table too? The ZVM is getting a bit long in the tooth now, don't you think?

Many don't mind that the ZVM is long in the tooth, but now that it's falling out Creative will need another soon—unless Zunes and Classics begin to fill the gap.

Creative has the Zen.
And iPods and Zunes will always phail for their low format support and proprietary software

actually, The New Zen is quite appealing now. they've upped the screen to 3.2", added Mpeg-4 and .h264 and WMV support adding wireless syncing, also adding ZuneCast support updated GUI and features

But, at very least the Zune's 3x3 DRM no longer has a time limit. Same three play restriction, but it no longer has to be within three days.

this is all from engadget, the Zunemarketplace now has music videos, Zunecasts, a new online community, drm free music (A million songs to be exact)
bit of a bummer though, still has a qvga screen (would of been best at the iPod Touch's screen res)
"Dimensions are 61.1 x 108.2 x 12.9mm (2.4 x 4.25 x 0.5-inches), some 1/3rd smaller than the classic Zune."
Oh it also comes with the Premium Zune Phones :)

"The Zune software is all new and rewritten, and is supposed to actually be more than a rebadge of WMP10 now. Friggin finally."

i think i found my future HD player!!!!!!!!!!!!
yay it looks quite promising, THOUGH, one thing still thats in my mind, will it be a 262k screen? will it have DECENT battery life? (like 15 hours in REAL TIME tests, not like 11 for the G1 Zune)

  • SanDisk Sansa Clip
    SanDisk Sansa Clip

The Clip has a fantastic little form factor; cheap in build quality but very rugged. The interface is simple and relatively straight forward. The features on the clip are more or less average, mostly identical to the Sansa Express. However, what earns this player a spot in Editor’s Choice is the superb sound quality; you will not find another player at this size and price that can match it. Read the full review or go ahead and buy it.

  • Samsung P3
    Samsung P2

The Samsung P2 was a success and the P3 is a very welcome and substantial update. Samsung has paid close attention to users on P2 issues and made great strides in addressing and improving most of them. The best feature of the P3 is its native video support. Most content you thow at it will playback without conversion on the great looking screen. Stop by the Samsung P3 forums for more details or check out our indepth P3 review.

  • Microsoft Zune 120
    Samsung P2

Sure, many of us are not big fans of the walled garden, but there are a lot of great things going on with the Zune- sturdy hardware, ultra easy to use user interface, and a media player that is worthy of editor’s choice. The best part of the Zune is the constant firmware and software updates virtually giving you a new device at each major refresh. You can check out the latest Zune 120 & 16 review or stop by our Zune forums for the latest.

  • Cowon iAudio D2
    Cowon iAudio D2

The D2 is a fantastic sounding PMP with a very nice looking screen and a tone of features. One of the best features of the D2 is the SDHC slot allowing you to add another 32GB to this small wonder. The touch interface does not lend well to on the move operation, but it is not enough to keep it from being an editor’s choice. You can find usually find it at Amazon for the best price and before to check out the review.

  • Phonak Audéo PFE
    Phonak PFE

Phonak Audéo PFE offer outstanding clarity and precision; natural, dynamic mids and treble, and decent bass for a single armature in-ear phone. They handle dense, complex music very well. The PFE work well with most acoustic and some electronic music genres, but bassheads might have to look at other alternatives. They're great for sports as well, since they fit very securely.
