Utew on August 14, 2007 5:47 PM

I'll take 2, please.... looks fabulous-tastic!

Hoping that Sammy bumps it to 16 or 32GB.... gestures, bluetooth.. speakers? I saw the specs list integrated speakers.. if this is true, then the best of both worlds.. ahhhh.. I want one of these....

Phoenix-X on August 15, 2007 1:17 PM

Looks like they beat iPod to the punch with this one. I was pretty sure after the iPhone came out they'd roll out a iPod with touch screen.

Looks pretty slick too.

I think that if they do advertise it enough they will get a lot of people who want an iPhone to get this. It should be cheaper, lighter and thinner than the iPhone and people wont have to get rid of the cellphones that they got used to and can stay with the company they're with.

I don't get it, you swipe from left to right and it goes "Prev"
And when you swipe right to left and it goes "Next"
What? Isn't that backwards?

somedude on August 17, 2007 2:48 AM

because in korea, they read from right to left. so in theory, they're swiping the proper way. i guess when it's released in UK and NA, it'll be reversed for us.

thehell on August 17, 2007 6:09 PM

we read right to left.......

i think if you swipe and click again ("next" or "prev") it will play the song once again.

thehell on August 17, 2007 6:12 PM

I meant to say.. we read left to right.. actually.

so somedude is wrong

i cant wait until its release.

somedude on August 17, 2007 8:24 PM

meh, can't be right about everything i guess lol!

TonyT61 on August 23, 2007 10:02 PM

No they have it right just fine, they are sort of using the "flip page" process of the next and back buttons. When you go to the next "page", you position your finger to the right and flip on to the next one. If you have ever played around with with a touchscreen device like the Iphone or something similar to that, that's how it works. It's actually very natural, and it would not make sense to swipe your finger from left to right to go to the next song, and vice versa to go back. Seeing how this user in the video flicks the screen moderately fast across the screen somehow makes me believe that is the idea that Samsung wants to get across...

fergie232 on August 24, 2007 2:46 PM

oooo i want one :)
i currently have the samsung Z5, run out of room cos its 4GB :(
this tho, its like a skinnier zune, cos less storage its flash
I WANT SO BADLY :'(
loll
perfect for me, movies, 8GB, large touchscreen
sexy as hell
i hope samsung do bump up to 16GB or 32, it would soooo be worth the extra cash!

TonyT61 on August 24, 2007 8:39 PM

I also hope they break into at least the 16 Gb barrier of flash memory as well, as I would want to store much more video content than I ever tried on my 4 gig T9 lol...

froes on August 28, 2007 8:11 AM

With 16GB it would be O.K. and be worth to sell my Sansa E280

Shen on October 2, 2007 1:30 AM

hmmmm,
ill take it ... under the conditions of:
32gb flash only
SDHC compatable
$300 or under
WI-FI
Stero Bluetooth full support (buttons on the bluetooth)
Video (widescreen and vertical support would be nice)
scratch resistance (to a decent degree)
customizablility (menu and such)

i get half of this stuff with zen vision m and the other half (without the bluetooth) is on the Itouch. so it has to have this or else im not gonna bother thinking any more about it.

afakirani on December 10, 2007 12:54 PM

I bougth the player and Shen, a lot of the features you're looking for aren't on it. There's no built in speaker, the touchscreen is not as intuitive and sensitve as the iPod touch, it doesn't have WiFi, does not (YET) have a customizable GUI, uses proprietary video formats, and maxes out at 8gig. besides, at the price point you're looking at, there aren't many devices that I can think of that have all those features besides (and unfortunately) the touch.

afakirani on December 10, 2007 1:02 PM

About the swiping thing, it is still from left to right to go previous and right to left to go next. when i first tried it it was a little weird getting used too but it's quick learning curve to get over and it's easy to understand why it's done that way. Basically, you're draging the file forward. It's the same way in the ipod touch and has ntohing with the fact that the early versions seen online are from Korea.

Does it have an integrated speaker???

  • SanDisk Sansa Clip
    SanDisk Sansa Clip

The Clip has a fantastic little form factor; cheap in build quality but very rugged. The interface is simple and relatively straight forward. The features on the clip are more or less average, mostly identical to the Sansa Express. However, what earns this player a spot in Editor’s Choice is the superb sound quality; you will not find another player at this size and price that can match it. Read the full review or go ahead and buy it.

  • Samsung P3
    Samsung P2

The Samsung P2 was a success and the P3 is a very welcome and substantial update. • Microsoft Zune 120
    Samsung P2

Sure, many of us are not big fans of the walled garden, but there are a lot of great things going on with the Zune- sturdy hardware, ultra easy to use user interface, and a media player that is worthy of editor’s choice. The best part of the Zune is the constant firmware and software updates virtually giving you a new device at each major refresh. • Cowon iAudio D2
    Cowon iAudio D2

The D2 is a fantastic sounding PMP with a very nice looking screen and a tone of features. One of the best features of the D2 is the SDHC slot allowing you to add another 32GB to this small wonder. The touch interface does not lend well to on the move operation, but it is not enough to keep it from being an editor’s choice. You can find usually find it at Amazon for the best price and before to check out the review.

  • Phonak Audéo PFE
    Phonak PFE

Phonak Audéo PFE offer outstanding clarity and precision; natural, dynamic mids and treble, and decent bass for a single armature in-ear phone. They handle dense, complex music very well. The PFE work well with most acoustic and some electronic music genres, but bassheads might have to look at other alternatives. They're great for sports as well, since they fit very securely.
