Samsung Announces the YP-S5 and YP-T10

samsung-yp-t10-s5.jpg

Everyone is gearing up for the next generation of MP3 players and Samsung is the next to announce a new set of flash players. First off is a follow up to the K5—appropriately called the S5 with built in speakers. The S5 however, adds a color screen (1.8” 222 x 176 pixels), Bluetooth (for wireless headsets and mobile phone control), and video playback to go nicely with the built in speakers.

The T10 is almost a follow up to the K3, at lease in form factor and controls. The speck at the moment are scant, but we do know that it will also do video, Bluetooth, and rock 30 hours of battery life.

No word on capacities for either of these players, but we are keeping our fingers crosses for some nicely sized 16 giggers.

[Press Release]

Update: GenMP3 has some live shots of the S5 compared with the K5.

I am really happy that Samsung is pushing the whole Bluetooth thing into all their upcoming players, and it will be interesting to see how the whole "phone" feature will work and all. I want to see the "cartoon dog" interface in action, looks very interesting.

Can't wait to get more info released!!!

The YP-T10 looks appealing. I have been waiting for a well-built and compact DAP with Bluetooth integrated because I don't like hooking dongles on to my player. This might finally be an elegant wireless headphone solution. I just hope that the menus aren't too silly.

For the brotherhood.

i hate samsung!!.. just when i got a K3 they are gonna release another one BETTER.. if i knew this was coming i should have waited.. now my K3 will soon be obsolete.. i just had it for a couple of days.. again im gonna have to buy another one as i really want the bluetooth earphones capability.. also the sleeker S5 with the speaker.. damn..

Hopefully the Bluetooth doesn't get neutered out for U.S. release like the T9. Not sure why it's taking so long to get bluetooth support, seems like it could be a compelling reason to lure a lot of the masses from those white boxes. Especially if the short fat Ipod leaked pictures come out (They're UGLY!).

Does anyone know when the T10's are coming out? If it's not too long I might not get the K3 and just wait for the new T10.

Zeddicus on August 31, 2007 8:36 AM

Curt M., Samsung has said the T10 and P2 will be in the US this September, however exact dates and prices are still unconfirmed.

Curt. M. on August 31, 2007 8:42 PM

Alright, thanks for answering that.

Curtis on September 22, 2007 7:59 PM

Vinh N. on October 17, 2007 7:33 PM

Will the S5's be coming out in yellow? Or just the white and black?

Mandy on November 13, 2007 12:13 PM

Heeey, i really like the s5, but if you have the white one, can you change the menu into white? Mandy.

  • SanDisk Sansa Clip
    SanDisk Sansa Clip

The Clip has a fantastic little form factor; cheap in build quality but very rugged. The interface is simple and relatively straight forward. The features on the clip are more or less average, mostly identical to the Sansa Express. However, what earns this player a spot in Editor’s Choice is the superb sound quality; you will not find another player at this size and price that can match it. Read the full review or go ahead and buy it.

  • Samsung P3
    Samsung P2

The Samsung P2 was a success and the P3 is a very welcome and substantial update. Samsung has paid close attention to users on P2 issues and made great strides in addressing and improving most of them. The best feature of the P3 is its native video support. Most content you thow at it will playback without conversion on the great looking screen. Stop by the Samsung P3 forums for more details or check out our indepth P3 review.

    Samsung P2

Sure, many of us are not big fans of the walled garden, but there are a lot of great things going on with the Zune- sturdy hardware, ultra easy to use user interface, and a media player that is worthy of editor’s choice. The best part of the Zune is the constant firmware and software updates virtually giving you a new device at each major refresh. • Cowon iAudio D2
    Cowon iAudio D2

The D2 is a fantastic sounding PMP with a very nice looking screen and a tone of features. One of the best features of the D2 is the SDHC slot allowing you to add another 32GB to this small wonder. The touch interface does not lend well to on the move operation, but it is not enough to keep it from being an editor’s choice. You can find usually find it at Amazon for the best price and before to check out the review.

  • Phonak Audéo PFE
    Phonak PFE

Phonak Audéo PFE offer outstanding clarity and precision; natural, dynamic mids and treble, and decent bass for a single armature in-ear phone. They handle dense, complex music very well. The PFE work well with most acoustic and some electronic music genres, but bassheads might have to look at other alternatives. They're great for sports as well, since they fit very securely.
