Samsung YP-U3 Specs Spotted
Another day, another flash-based USB stick DAP.
Featuring a retractable USB plug, the recently discovered (though officially unannounced) Samsung YP-U3 actually looks a bit like some of Sony's recent offerings especially with its 1GB, 2GB, and 4GB storage capacities and OLED display. But unlike its competitors, the U3's got an RDS tuner and native Ogg support. It does the usual MP3 and WMA thing, too, but that's hardly worth mentioning these days.
And as is to be expected when word of an upcoming player doesn't come directly from its maker, pricing and availability are both unknown. But if it's any consolation, we do know that the U3 measures 3.15" x 0.99" x 0.43" and has that glowing blue light at the top.

It looks like a very nice MP3 player...and the fact that its made by samsung makes it even better. I am really satisified with my Z5, only thing that I would really like is these smaller MP3 players use AA batteries instead of built in batteries. Its more convinient when travelling.

Well the voice recording bit about it is not that great. It looks good and stuff...but I'm concerned about the voice recorder. It seems to be able to recorder only about an arms length, maybe a bit more

I have had this thing for a couple of hours and it simply doesnt work! why do none of the reviews mention the huge amount of software needed by your pc ( doesnt support mac!) why in this age can it not work so easily as other MP3s by simple drag and drop? I wonder how many of the internet reveiwers have actually tried one of these dispicable bits of plastic.
my 3 year old creative zen with replaceble battery and drag and drop loading is a mile better.
Im taking this one back to the shop!

well...i got htis mp3 player a few dayz ago(bout 5 days)...and its amazing....the sound is awesome and its soooooo gud tht my bros plannin to get it......who ever is look for a mp3 player i would advice u to get this

I just got this device to replace my Samsung YP-U2.
Sad to say that this is a piece of crap compared to its predecessor. While The YP-U2 was useful as a MSD device and could be plugged into basically any computer to happily transfer files (not just audio), this abomination of hardware is only usable by treading the narrowly defined path laid out for the user by Samsung using a whole toolchain of Microsofts software.
This device will be useless the moment you want to use it with an older PC, a Mac or Linux.
It's a typical case of manufacturer's hybris of having the notion of having to think for its customers. This piece of crapware is going straight back to the store.

I bought one of these and cannot get it to work.
The software does not recognise the software when it is plugged in to my computer.
Any help? I am running Win XP.

Guys.. if you have trouble getting the MP3 player to show up in My Computer, make sure you install Windows Media Player 10!
I used to have Media Player 9 and didn't bother to upgrade it, because I thought nothing spectacular would happen. So I kept using the Samsung Media Software for copying songs to the MP3 Player - which was really frustrating! But as soon as I installed Windows Media Player 10, the thing got recognized in My Computer: I can now drag and drop files & delete voice recordings! Victory at last!
