Samsung K3 Sports Colorful GUI

samsung-k3-color-gui.jpg

We mentioned back in January that Samsung would be splashing its ultra slim YP-K3 DAP with lime and cherry paint, and the company made good on its promise (though not for the North American market). We're revisiting the news today because the players freshest from the factory will now ship with a color-coordinated graphical user interface. So the green K3 will have a tangy lime UI, the red K3 will have a sweet cherry UI, and the black K3 . . . well, that one stays the same. We're not sure if all the colors will be preloaded onto all the players, but that would actually make the most sense and offer consumers the most choice.

The extra color will also be available for current users through a firmware upgrade.

Today I tested the K3 at the local Mediamarkt but I like my Z5 much more than this one because it has a touch-only control and the menu is ugly...

Bought it and some seinheiser earbuds, put my music on. Downloaded the new firmware upgrade, Then spent 30 min tweaking the eq to how i like it. The sound is phenominal with good earbuds, loud, detailed and bassy. Very compact and easy to carry round, doesn't get dirty easy. The fm radio Is noticably more reliable compared to my last samsung as well. It's been 3 days since i bought it and it's already become my favourite mp3 player. It's sleek, black and kicks out good sound.

If youre looking at this mp3 player rest assured it'll give you your money's worth.

Hmm this mp3 really didnt impress. I fail to see what so special about it. Its just thin. The yp-k3 lacks feature. This is basically a copy of the ipod nano seriously. Get the yp-t9 it has way more features besides it small

hi...
i need help!
i upgraded the firmware for my k3 but i dont like it in red and want to go back to blue!
does anyone know how to do this??

thanksss!

Hi joie, I did the same thing as you did and uploaded the firmware on my new player and everytime I turned it on it had new colors, at least till the red(which I don't like)

What a Xmas gift! I love it, anyway I digress. To get it to change colors simply plug it in and delete the firmware file(that scary long file name - 20071210100136953_YP_K3_3_09_MTP_WA) then copy whichever color you want from this file into the root directory of the player. Now unplug and start your player and presto!! It will upgrade and you'll have your old color back.

I like the blue and green on my black player, great option to be able to change anytime I want.

  • SanDisk Sansa Clip
    SanDisk Sansa Clip

The Clip has a fantastic little form factor; cheap in build quality but very rugged. The interface is simple and relatively straight forward. The features on the clip are more or less average, mostly identical to the Sansa Express. However, what earns this player a spot in Editor’s Choice is the superb sound quality; you will not find another player at this size and price that can match it. Read the full review or go ahead and buy it.

  • Samsung P3
    Samsung P2

The Samsung P2 was a success and the P3 is a very welcome and substantial update. Samsung has paid close attention to users on P2 issues and made great strides in addressing and improving most of them. The best feature of the P3 is its native video support. Most content you thow at it will playback without conversion on the great looking screen. Stop by the Samsung P3 forums for more details or check out our indepth P3 review.

  • Microsoft Zune 120
    Samsung P2

Sure, many of us are not big fans of the walled garden, but there are a lot of great things going on with the Zune- sturdy hardware, ultra easy to use user interface, and a media player that is worthy of editor’s choice. The best part of the Zune is the constant firmware and software updates virtually giving you a new device at each major refresh. You can check out the latest Zune 120 & 16 review or stop by our Zune forums for the latest.

  • Cowon iAudio D2
    Cowon iAudio D2

The D2 is a fantastic sounding PMP with a very nice looking screen and a tone of features. One of the best features of the D2 is the SDHC slot allowing you to add another 32GB to this small wonder. The touch interface does not lend well to on the move operation, but it is not enough to keep it from being an editor’s choice. You can find usually find it at Amazon for the best price and before to check out the review.

  • Phonak Audéo PFE
    Phonak PFE

Phonak Audéo PFE offer outstanding clarity and precision; natural, dynamic mids and treble, and decent bass for a single armature in-ear phone. They handle dense, complex music very well. The PFE work well with most acoustic and some electronic music genres, but bassheads might have to look at other alternatives. They're great for sports as well, since they fit very securely.
