Commodore Gravel: It's Alive . . . Again!
It's been a long time since the heyday of the Commodore 64. After the decline of the original Commodore company the brand name wandered around aimlessly, obviously just waiting to be used for labeling some egg-shaped PMP...
The thing plays the standard MP3, WMA and WAV files. A bit more interesting is the video section, with support for MPEG2 and MPEG4 (DivX, XviD) files on the 2.8" screen. It has 2GB of memory under the hood, and can be expanded through the SD card slot. SD-HC is not supported, as far as I know. Furthermore it's a veritable image viewer, supporting JPEG, GIF, PNG and BMP.
The Gravel's built-in Wi-Fi lets you download stuff from a subscription and video-on-demand service, dubbed "Commodore World" but also lets you upload to a "virtual locker" to share tunes with your friends, totally social networking style.
Another interesting novelty is the joystick, which is located on the backside of the unit - a design that Sony pioneered in the Clie TH55 handheld, but that has hardly been seen anywhere else since.
