Cowon D2 Now Available in the U.S.

cowon-d2-usa.jpg

If last month's disassembly pictorial of the Cowon D2 had you contemplating a trip to Korea, take a moment now to read the fineprint on your e-ticket. We hope the word "refundable" is there somewhere because the PMP has just been added to virtual shelves throughout North America.

Retailers like Amazon, Buy.com, and B&H all have the 2GB and 4GB players (in black and white) in stock or available for preorder for $190 and $220, respectively. We're not overjoyed at the pricing, but it's actually not too bad given the D2's specs and tasty little touchscreen.

What a player. Fantastic!!. If its video its the D2, If its Music its the D2, If its features its the D2. If its file format compatibilty its again the D2. There isn't a player that does all of these except the D2. It is a very powerful player 37MW per channel and it drives my headphones so well. If you are a music enthusiast and love your music detailed and clear packed with other functionalities, this is the player for you. The extra SD slot even makes it a very attractive player, with 8GB SDHC and MMC+ cards on its way its looking very attractive as a player. I'm using the Shure E500 PTH earphones with this player and it sounds too good to be true. It is also dead to use. You cant get hold of any player with these many features. Its not the most good looking player but it doesn't disappoint. I love this player so much I bought 2 of them 2GB version and the 4GB version.

What are these selling for in Korea? I will be going there soon on business, and might want to pick one up if the price is considerably cheaper.

Looks like an excellent Mp3/PMP player... Shame they didnt add support for Napster to Go and such like, maybe in a future firmware update... please?

Wow! Only $200 for this measly amount of space? You retards have obviously never heard of the XClef music player if you are touting the D2's file format support. The XClef supports many more formats, has much more space, and offers many more features such as line-in recording. Zeto is right also, it has no user-replaceable battery (just like the iPod). I know the iPod sucks, but how can you guys like this Korean piece of garbage more than the iPod? If it's video you're interested in, get the Zen-W by Creative as it can fit more than half of a standard movie and has a widescreen. It may not have a retard-appealing touch screen as this one does, but it makes up for that with 60gb of space.

Keep wasting your money on garbage you stupid consumers, I'm sure you all bought iPods when they came out too.

D2 has line-in recording and TV-Out.

  • SanDisk Sansa Clip
    SanDisk Sansa Clip

The Clip has a fantastic little form factor; cheap in build quality but very rugged. The interface is simple and relatively straight forward. The features on the clip are more or less average, mostly identical to the Sansa Express. However, what earns this player a spot in Editor’s Choice is the superb sound quality; you will not find another player at this size and price that can match it. Read the full review or go ahead and buy it.

    Samsung P2

The Samsung P2 was a success and the P3 is a very welcome and substantial update. Most content you thow at it will playback without conversion on the great looking screen. Stop by the Samsung P3 forums for more details or check out our indepth P3 review.

    Samsung P2

Sure, many of us are not big fans of the walled garden, but there are a lot of great things going on with the Zune- sturdy hardware, ultra easy to use user interface, and a media player that is worthy of editor’s choice. The best part of the Zune is the constant firmware and software updates virtually giving you a new device at each major refresh. • Cowon iAudio D2
    Cowon iAudio D2

The D2 is a fantastic sounding PMP with a very nice looking screen and a tone of features. One of the best features of the D2 is the SDHC slot allowing you to add another 32GB to this small wonder. The touch interface does not lend well to on the move operation, but it is not enough to keep it from being an editor’s choice. You can find usually find it at Amazon for the best price and before to check out the review.

  • Phonak Audéo PFE
    Phonak PFE

Phonak Audéo PFE offer outstanding clarity and precision; natural, dynamic mids and treble, and decent bass for a single armature in-ear phone. They handle dense, complex music very well. The PFE work well with most acoustic and some electronic music genres, but bassheads might have to look at other alternatives. They're great for sports as well, since they fit very securely.
