MobiBLU CUBISTO - The third in the series

cubisto-main.jpg

Yes yet another cute cube by MobiBLU. Even though it is the third installment of the cube, it does take a hit on some of the specs from the Cube 2. The CUBISTO will not have video playback and the OLED screen will only be monochrome. But, I don’t think you will be missing much considering the screen is a mere .66 inches. The player will support MP3 and WMA file types with PlaysForSure compatibility. The CUBISTO will come in capacities of 512MB, 1GB, and 2GB. There is no word on the US release of the third cube, but judging from previous releases, you probably won’t see it till mid next year.

Atrax on December 22, 2006 8:30 PM

It looks retarded, why would anyone buy it?

mike on December 22, 2006 9:21 PM

This looks alot more durable than the last versions of the cube. I wonder when cnet will get they'er greedy nerdy hands on it. Did they improve the battery life?

Nodspy on December 23, 2006 12:26 AM

Me like I WANT TO TOUCH IT NOW!

Deso on December 23, 2006 4:45 AM

Its lame dudes...

Wohoo video playback :s
Wohoo 8hours battery life
Wohoo max 2gb space

Try the creatice zen V 4gb : 142€ decent sound/battery life/design.
Nothing will ever ever beat my NW-HD5h though, ever.

mwkmn on December 23, 2006 6:18 PM

Deso...why are you even trying to compare the players in completely different leagues? This cube is meant to be more of a novelty fashion item that plays MP3s, whereas Zen is a utilitarian player that focuses primarily on functionality. People who would be interested in this player wouldn't be interested in having a video playback (pointless on tiny tiny screen), long battery life OR big storage room (both due to its tiny size) anyways.

Axium on December 25, 2006 7:32 PM

Doesn't seem to wait-worthy. If I was to get it, it'd have to have more choice of codecs. MP3 and Wav only?

Axium on December 25, 2006 7:32 PM

Sorry, meant wma.

this is stupid on December 26, 2006 11:38 AM

It just looks like garbage, why would anyone want to hang it around their neck? It is stupid

chik3108 on January 3, 2007 7:26 PM

weird lookin!!!!!!

Sibyl on January 5, 2007 11:15 PM

Get it for your mum/girlfriend/some person who is not knowledgeable about specs and just wants a cute-looking thing to wear and listen to. Meanwhile, stick with your own technically superior big guns as you prefer. Everyone wins.

Virtual on January 6, 2007 6:34 PM

AHAHAHAHAH

It looks like a pencil sharpener!

This is a fashion gear.
People who don't care about design would not understand this.

It is like a watch. Watch has become a fashion gear. Fashion oriented watches does not have all the numbers from 1~12. But it does it's basic job. Even if you cannot read exact time.
Who cares?

It's all about the look.

Ipod shuffle is another fashion gear. It does not have screen.
Who cares? It looks good.

This is designer's choice.

Lisa on April 29, 2007 1:24 AM

Don't you understand the design of this product?

This product isn't meant to be something that lasts 50 hours long.

It's fashanable and extremely small. That's enough for this player.

Oh I can't wait for this mp3 player! Go MobiBlu!

  • Samsung P2
    Samsung P2

The Samsung P2 has been gaining quite a following lately and rightfully so. If you are looking for something well designed, innovative, and feature packed; you should look into this full touch screen wonder. The Bluetooth feature set is what I find to be the most intriguing, with the ability to tether to your phone to make calls or wirelessly transfer with no restrictions to other P2s. Check out the review or stop by our ever growing P2 forums to get the latest info.

  • Toshiba Gigabeat T400
    toshiba gigabeat t400

The Gigabeat T400 is without a doubt my favorite flash player at the moment. It does have one major setback in that it only comes in a 4GB, shame on you Toshiba. What makes me love this player is it's ultra slick sexy design, very easy- just pick up and use interface, and killer sound quality that would make Cowon users envious. This player is a must buy for anyone who sports a premium set of headphones. Full review to come but you should really just buy one.

  • SanDisk Sansa Clip
    SanDisk Sansa Clip

The Clip has a fantastic little form factor; cheap in build quality but very rugged. The interface is simple and relatively straight forward. The features on the clip are more or less average, mostly identical to the Sansa Express. However, what earns this player a spot in Editor’s Choice is the superb sound quality; you will not find another player at this size and price that can match it. Read the full review or go ahead and buy it.

  • Cowon iAudio D2
    Cowon iAudio D2

The D2 is a fantastic sounding PMP with a very nice looking screen and a tone of features. One of the best features of the D2 is the SDHC slot allowing you to add another 32GB to this small wonder. The touch interface does not lend well to on the move operation, but it is not enough to keep it from being an editor’s choice. You can find usually find it at Amazon for the best price and before to check out the review.

  • JAYS q-JAYS
    JAYS q-JAYS

The q-JAYS are great in ear phones. They offer excellent clarity, silky treble, realistic midrange, and a nice bass response. They're comfortable, incredibly tiny, and come with a huge selection of accessories. While they certainly are analytic phones, they're still fun to listen to. The q-JAYS respond well to EQing, and can be tweaked to fit almost anyone's sound preference. Recommended for anyone owning a good sounding player and well encoded audio files. Check out our review.
